My daughter is getting married in the fall and is looking a place to get married. She would like for it to be outside and not expensive (not alot of $$ too spend). She is a country girl and would like it near a pond or lake, barn, something pretty and romantic though...Do you have any thoughts. She's looking at having around 65 to 85 guest. If someone has an old farm house that's in good shape or some land with a pond...any good ideas would be great. Prefers Smithfield, Selma, Pine Level, Clayton, Micro area. I've called Southern Grace and the reception area is not big enough and it's a little too far out according to the bride and groom. Thanks for your help and ideas
Try Southern Grace Wedding Chapel. It's off of Rock Service Station Rd...(think I got that right). They have a island in the middle of a pond with a boardwalk over the pond.....and a BIG gazebo in the middle.
Southern Grace is wonderful and the staff is most helpful. My sister's wedding was there this past September. They had everything so beautifully done. Prices were not bad at all either.
There is the outdoor area beside Dr Lane's office bldg. Not sure what the # is, how many it will hold or the cost. Went to a wedding reception that started there 'in the garden' then proceeded to the upstairs area. I know the upstairs area is rather pricey. The outdoor area is pretty nice, the landscaping and all, lights in the trees, water features etc. But not a real 'country' setting. One thing to consider of course is that she has to have a backup plan (a close-by indoor alternative) in case it rains!
that is a nice place, but just remember if your daughter is getting married in September, all the blooms may be gone by then. I have heard of people who book it while looking at it in Spring and then show up for a fall wedding and it just looks like the woods.....and some of the bushes have been pruned back, so just keep that thought in mind.
I got married at Lake Benson in Garner (in November!) The picnic shelter is big enough to hold that many people, and it's super cheap! You need to call the Town of Garner to reserve it.
Years ago, I went to an outside wedding at the Wagner House in Clayton, relatively small area in the back of the house for weddings but was nicely setup for the occasion. Keep in mind this was several years ago. They had the reception in the house.

what about that little wedding place on main street in Clayton? How much do they charge? I am collecting info for a wonderful young couple who want to get married this year and are on a limited budget. What about moose and other halls that are for rent? Couldn't they get married in a church and then have the reception elsewhere?
I have the perfect place, although it is not our here, it's near Jordan Lake. I went to a bridal show and that's where I heard about them. It's http://www.shadywagonfarm.com/weddings.html Hope this helps!! Another place that is nice but not a barn is Mordecai historic park in Raleigh. It is owned by the city of Raleigh so it is pretty cheap. This link is long, if it doesn't work you can google it. http://www.raleighnc.gov/portal/ser...Mordecai_Historic_Park/Rental_Facilities.html
I got married at Cattails Pond on 96hwy in 2001, it was wonderful and it was a fall wedding we brought in mums and hay bails to make it more colorful. Not sure if it has been fixed since the damned broke but it was big enough for 75 people! Good luck
