Does anyone have recommendations for a really good seafood restaurant? Since Lanes Seafood Restaurant closed I have not found anywhere with good fried shrimp and flounder. Any suggestions? Thx!

Neptunes has good fried Alaskan Skinless Flounder and shrimp. Since I can't eat fried stuff anymore (hurts me), I have switched to their broiled shrimp...yummmm!

For GREAT fried "Fish Camp" Calabash style seafood try the NC Seafood Restaurant at the Farmer's Market in Raleigh, just off the Lake Wheeler Road @ I40.

It is very good, big plates and a good price for the amount of food.

    BUT

It is NOT a "Impress the in-laws" or First Date place. Great food, no ABC permit, (No booze). Major business at lunch & dinner.

    Always good food!!!

Only downside I am aware of-if you eat in you will smell like a fish camp for the rest of the day. The ventilation in there is poor. Teh food IS really good

My boss likes "Last Catch" on New Bern. He brought me back lunch from there one day and it was pretty good and I had quiet a bit, but never been in the place myself.

The Farmer's market is owned by Kemps....

yep...last catch, mayflower and neptunes all under the same ownership. Talk about having a lil cash!

Just had lunch up at the Mayflower off of Capitol Boulevard with the in-laws. They changed the menu and everybody agreed the food was not as good as normal. Will try again in a month or two (hopefully in Garner)

Tried the Mayflower on Capital Blvd. Bad, bad, bad. First time I have ever had to send my broiled fish back. Also, they like to bury the so called hush puppies under the food. The salad was a poor excuse for one. The atmosphere left everything to be desired as did the service. Made Captain Stanleys look real good. Sure hope that the new Mayflower on 401 near 70 is much better.
Sure miss Lanes and am still looking for a decent replacement.
