Here's my last year.... Jan 7th, I got hired. Jan 8th, found out we were pregnant. We had a kid, bought a house, bought a car, and I got a promotion. Sounds great right... not entirely

Bought the house, 5 days in, well pump starts going...2 mths later it gives out entirely when baby was 5 days old. High electric bills result for 2 months.... Back up a bit, 8 mths pregnant, wife wrecks the car. Get it fixed. Kid was born, I missed the birth. One month later, kid is sick in the hospital overnight. (more bills) Well pump develops leak at joint....electric skyrockets again. Dec 21st, Wife totals car (yes, the one we fixed just 6 months prior) Jan 5th, 2012 Wife loses her job of $16/hr.

I know, there's a lot that could go wrong yet, and I'm prepared for that...such as losing the house, etc. There's so much more that could go right, and I'm unprepared for that. So Please, say a prayer, cause I could use a few.

and if you have no pity, :nopity: , well, i'm ok with that.

    thanks for reading my rant.

Been there, done that, and it took over 5 years to recover. However you have a new offspring (Congratulations) and it looks like your wife did not get hurt!

Those other things are only materials and can be replaced!

May opportunity knock and your family answer in this new year!

My grandmother used to say "Where's there's life, there's hope" which sounds a little trite given your story, but she lived through two world wars and the great depression so it has at least some credibility.

I'm not trying to BS ya, but when things really seem to suck sometimes I find it helps to focus on the things that don't suck so much, like continuing to convert oxygen to carbon dioxide which, all things considered, is a pretty good start.

    Peace!

I definitely agree with Gomer ... concentrate on the positive things, appreciate the good all that much more. If nothing else, consider it a positive thing that you all have -survived- so far. Survival, itself, is a great accomplishment!

Will be sending prayers and positive thoughts your way ... hang in there!

It's tough out there! Many of us have been or still in those trying times. There are good days and bad days, but you are not alone.

I used to have Jesus Calling by 33 miles on repeat during the day to remind myself that everything was going to be all right. Hopefully you have a support network in place. If not feel free to reach out.

We don't have the promise of an easy life with no troubles, but you can have the assurance that you don't have to face life alone. If He brings you to it, He will bring you through it. Being thankful for the wonderful parts of your life is a good start to handling the ordinary and horrific trials, which we all face at some point. Siamese, my heart breaks for you and your family and I will send a prayer up for you all. :grouphug:

Thanks ya'll. We are thankful for all the Blessings He has bestowed upon us....friends, family, church family, the lil guy....

Most of my rant was basically just I take one step forward, and get two steps pushed back....everytime. We just can't seem to catch a break long enough to let us break even. We owe medical bills, personal loans to family, loans against my 401 K, it's just where does it end? Considering Bankruptcy, but not sure how it will affect my wifes credit if just I file. Cause we need one of us to be able to secure a loan for a car should she get a job. We're gonna talk to a lawyer next week sometime (we hope, if not then, the week after that) to see what our options are.

Just praying for His guidance and His meaning to come shining thru as to why all this bad stuff is happening at one time. we had a run of good fortune and then it abruptly turned sour, and continues on that trend.

I need a beer....sadly, I don't have the cash to spend on frivolous stuff (and we only have the internet so we can pay bills and keep up to date with family, and now, look for jobs!)

No matter what your financial situation is, always be thankful for your health and life and that of your family. We faced similar financial hardships after we had two newborns spend over a month in the hospital in the NICU two years ago. Recently, I was hospitalized twice for illnesses, once for two weeks in the ICU and once for a short, $10k trip to the ER. All of this has happened while we've had only one income, and a teacher's income at that. At this point, we are so thankful that we are all healthy and alive that we don't stress over the finances.

We also set ourselves up well years ago. We saved to buy both of our vehicles with cash, so we have no car payment. We also have a very modest house payment, even though at one point, we could have afforded more. We keep a minimum amount in our savings account for emergencies and never let it dip below that amount. This plan has served us well in times like this.

When I was sick and when my babies were in the hospital, I always reminded myself that it could be much worse. As long as we have each other, we will be happy. If that means we have to sell everything we own and start over just to make ends meet, then so be it. Thankfully, we have not had to do anything like that, but I have known people who did and who survived.

My advice is to think outside of the box when it comes to ways to make money. Some money is better than no money, which might mean that your wife takes a job she's not thrilled with or you sell things you really don't want to part with. And lastly, try to focus on the positive things you've got going like your health and the love of your family. You will get through this!:)
