Does anyone know the story of Hampton Dr? Google Maps (and most other map data I've seen, like GPS units) show the drive-thru of McDonald's as being an actual street, named Hampton Dr. Johnston County GIS maps show Hampton Dr existing just behind Four Oaks Bank, running between Technology Dr and Mast Dr. Was there a road planned at some point, and they instead put a McDonald's in? Is this a political scheme to get the state to plow and maintain the drive-thru asphalt? Just curious...
It is an obvious error becuase Hampton Drive is over there by Hampton in. Drive-thrus do not get street names or address ranges. My guess is that Google goofed (Goofle?) and did it at a time when the area was still under development. They may have driven the roads and been working off of older/newer photography and got mixed up.
i got one for yoy too... I was in Dunn the other night and I wanted to find the nearest Goody's to continue my holiday shopping toture a bit more. I punched in nearest Shopping, spelled Goody's and it gave me an address 7 mile away. Off I drove..Off in to the darkest country abyss I have ever seen. I followed my happy little GPS turn by turn and ended up on a back road in the middle of no where. It most certainly was not a Goody's. It was a private house and I just kept driving. I wasn' tgoing to ask them if that was their last name or if they had anything for sale. i thought maybe the GPS was taking me to a shopping center - the back way or something....Stupid thing!
Last week I had posted my old dead riding mower out on craigslist. One guy showed up around 7:30pm. He ahd gotten lost. He could not find my street. MY street is river oak and the maping thing had it as riveroak
