McGee's Takes County Battle of the Books Championship

    Annual Battle of the Books
    McGee's Takes Book Title!

    SELMA*McGee's Crossroads Middle School won first place in the county Battle of the Books competition, which was held at Selma Elementary on March 1. The winning team, coached by Becky Palgi, was comprised of Thomas Lineberger, William Higgins, Frankie Johnson, Emily Hanline, Brittany Grant, Emma Pfeifer, Savannah Bryant, Skye Frame, and Beth Pope. They will now advance to regional competition at Darden Middle School in Wilson on Tuesday, March 27.
    Princeton and Riverwood placed second and third, respectively.

    Princeton's team, comprised of Casey Croom, Lane Dougherty, Quinn Dougherty, Alan Fader, Brittany Godwin, Shane Hinton, Dalton Langdon, Laura Rose, and Sarah Toler, was coached by Bonnie Whitesell.
    Riverwood's team, coached by Gail Chandler and Jenny Cruz, consisted of Zach Daughtry, Kyle Wilson, Hunter Starr, Jenna Silver, Paetra Muller, Sarah Silver, Kelsey Brown, Cheyenne Parrish, Kristen Jordan, Hailey, Bolen, Chris Maness, and Adreonna Simmons.

    The final scores for the top three teams were McGee's 142, Princeton 138, Riverwood 124.
