I really hope that someone can help me out here!!

My husband and I bought a used minivan a few years ago, and although it's a 2002 it still has plenty of life left in it (was used as a vehicle for a printing company prior and didn't really get used much at all).

Last weekend the odometer, spedometer, O/D switch and AC died...all together!! Ugh!!

Well, we took it to our usual fix it guy, and he was very honest with us and told us what the problem was, but he knew he couldn't fix it.

Apparently, it's an electrical problem that is under the dash pretty far down. I'm assuming that the labor is going to trump the actual parts to repair.

Does anyone have any suggestions besides the actual Ford dealer? I love technology like any other person, but it seems that every vehicle that I have owned with "computerized" functions has done this or some form of it!

Thanks ahead of time for any suggestion!

You can call Brian's Automotive Repair. 723-8185 Certified ASE mechanic. He can take care of it.

Check the fuses first before doing anything else, :)

Wouldn't hurt to google the year, make and model either. My last Caravan had a similar issue and it was covered under a recall. Can't hurt, might help. : )

What you have is a possible recall item. I don't have the same problem as yours, mine is just with the ABS and brake lights coming on. You can probably do one of the fixes recommended temporarily or have it fixed and keep your receipts so that Ford can refund you.

Oh, please report it to the NHSTA also so that they can keep track of all the complaints.

My ABS and Brake light come on also all the time and stay on. You just get used to seeing the dashboard lit up. ;) No harm or damage will come of it and I am not spending $800. to replace the switch.

Hi, I also have 1999 Ford Windstar and I had the same problem as you have few years ago. All my husband did was to replace the fuse. The fuse box is right under your dashboard. You can get fuse chip at any auto part shop.

My odometer is now at least 158k and still running okay. I do have a check engine light on and it's been on for over a year. I took it to several auto shops and they couldn't diagnosis it so I was told to take it to Ford (I take mine's at Ford Smithfield) and it was fuel injection that needs some cleaning, that's all.

In case you may not know, Ford Freestar replaces Windstar now. Windstar is no longer in production. :)

+1 on the fuse. I had a 99 Windstar and had the exact same problem. All those items work off the same fuse for some weird reason.

OK, I will check the fusebox if I can find it.:( Manual said it is under the hood Near the battery) I can't find it. It is in the Windstar under the dash? I will go look. The A/c in the back does not blow out, but works in the front. What do I need to do about that also.?

The fuse I had to change was inside the driver's compartment, up under the steering wheel, a bit to the left.

The van got totalled a few years ago, so I don't have it anymore. Sorry I don't remember exactly which fuse it was.
