Anyone have these? I have been instructed to get one for my son. Told it needs to have on it Deaf--CI-- NO MRI. He has a magnet in his skull now w/ this device. Obviously, no MRI allowed. What do you all find best for kids as far as info goes? Put it on a necklace, shoes, bracelets, or what? I'm leaning towards the shoes but he doesn't always wear the same pair. Do any of your kids wear these and if so, what kind do you use? Thanks in advance for any insight to what might work.

We did the bracelet with our daughter, we wanted it VERY visable. They made really cute designs, even glow in the dark. Here is one place.... http://www.laurenshope.com/products.aspx?catid=52

I am not sure with a boy.... but I would make sure it is some place that wont be overlooked.

Bracelet. My mind is trained to look for a bracelet, whether boy or girl. Make it as simple as possible for those who need the information.

My wife has one of these:

It has the primary issues ingraved on it but also has a number to call to get a more total and up to date set of information for other possible issues. It makes it more adjustable over the lifetime of the bracelet and it can be a dog tag for the boys who do not want to wear a bracelet.

My daughter is a Type 1 diabetic and when she was a toddler we looked into the ones that go on your shoes and I was told by an EMS worker that he wasn't sure he would think to look on a shoe. I think they naturally look on the arm or neck. There are so many cute things out there you can find something a boy would not mind wearing.

Thanks for the link! It's awesome and actually cheaper than the brochure the center gave me. FAntastic! Oh, and thanks for the input from everyone regarding where to look. Great point. I'm leaning toward a necklace. At his age, he won't care. Just be another part of his "gear." Thanks for all the advice and experience. Hope we never, ever have to use it. But, being that an MRI could kill him now, we definitely err on the side of caution. Have a wonderful week. Got to place an order now.

My son is a Type 1 diabetic, too. There are many links on www.childrenwithdiabetes.com for bracelets. My brother and neighbor are EMTs and they say to make sure they look like medical bracelets, not just jewelry.

My son and I have a rare antibody in our blood and need to be careful if we ever need a transfusion...so in addition to the bracelet I have a note in my wallet and my car stating our blood type and that we have this antibody--may save time. So maybe carrying a note with you is something to consider as well as the bracelet. yes they would see the bracelet but if it comes off for any reason.....just a suggestion.

We got my daughter's at the pharmacy, says seizure disorder. She also has a card on her that has emergency information. Thankfully she's never been alone and had a seizure. Worries me to death when she has flown. That's why I first bought hers.
