We lost one, our little EE chick named Lily , but here are the others: Buffy is a 7 week old Buff Orpington. With that comb, I'm afraid we might be changing her name to Jody and finding him a new home soon. :? Prayers that she is a she, I already love this green eyed sweetie. Betty is a 7 week old black Australorp. At first she was mistaken for a black Minorca, but the breeder has confirmed that she is an Australorp. The rest... the cute little black and white one is a 7 week old Silver Laced Wyandotte named Lacy. I'm praying that she stays a Lacy and doesn't become a Lance... she is getting a nice little comb already too. The two little brown and tan ones are 6 week old Millie Fleur Bantams named Milly and Daisy. They are SO CUTE, especially when they are running around with their little feathery feet. Buffy and Daisy Our chicken tractor. The plans for this can be found here http://www.motherearthnews.com/Do-It-Yourself/2007-04-01/Portable-Chicken-Mini-coop-Plan.aspx
Where did you get your chicks? We were thinking of getting some but most places had a 25 min order--and we don't want 25 chickens!!! We would love to pick some up locally.
I got them from a cute little poultry farm off Sunset Lake Rd in Fuquay. I found the ad on Craigslist.
They're beautiful little chicks! What does one do with chickens? Will you use them for their eggs? Do they eat/control bugs? Just ... wander about? Will you breed them and sell? Just curious ... my dad grew up on a farm and had farm chickens ... just for eggs and eatin' ... always wondered what people did in 'modern times' with farm animals.
EGGS! And no eating ours, they're pets that will give back. :-D Also, because mine are in a movable "chicken tractor", they will help with weeds & bugs in the yard. They'll also help fertilize it as well.
ooooooo REady, if your poor chickens could see your screen and read, they would have a stroke! LOL Cute babies though.
They're so beautiful, I was hoping they werent just for eating!! I hope you continue posting pictures as they grow up, would love to see how they turn out as adults ... I dont know anyone who has pet chickens. Thanks! Carol
My neighbors have a bunch of them, call me, I can hook you up, LOL. After dark of course, I don't want her to know what REALLY happened to them, LOL! J/K!! I just get tired of the constant crowing and them scratching up my landscaping. :boxing:
