    Michael Roy Named District's First Employee of the Month

    SMITHFIELD-- Michael Roy, a custodian at East Clayton Elementary School, has been named Johnston County Schools' first Employee of the Month.

    Dr. Peggy Smith, East Clayton's Principal, said, "When I ask for colleague compliments, this person's name always comes up." Roy is described as going the extra mile and beyond the call of duty. He is the first to volunteer to help when needed. He feels that a clean school is the right of the children, teachers, and other staff members at the school.

    In partnership with Carolina Pottery, Johnston County Schools salutes Mr. Roy for:
    * Demonstrating excellence on the job
    * Exhibiting a "teamwork" attitude
    * Making a significant contribution to the school, school district, employees, students and/or the community
    * Enthusiastically supporting the mission of Johnston County Schools

    Roy was informed of his recognition during a special event at the school on Wednesday afternoon. Dr. Anthony Parker, Superintendent, made the announcement and Joyce Wade, Associate Superintendent for Human Resource Services, presented him with a balloon bouquet. He will also receive a $50 gift certificate from Carolina Pottery and an appreciation certificate from Johnston County Schools. His photo will be displayed at Central Services and at East Clayton as well.

    Johnston County Schools will recognize an employee every month. The honoree will be recognized at the monthly Board of Education meetings.
