One of my babies has been missing for a week now... he is an outdoor cat for the most part, and even though hes been neutered its not unusual for him to do some springtime wandering and I don't see him for a few days at at time. But, now I'm getting concerned. I live behind Amelia Church on Amelia Church Rd, and my property backs up to the 99 acres thats been sold out on 42 to the Johnston Memorial Hospital project. We spent yesterday afternoon walking all through the woods, the fields and up around the pond on the JMH property. Checked the vacant house and storage buildings.. no kitty. He is 4 years old, his name is Frisky and he can be a little skittish with strangers. He likes wet food, if you see him, he can probably be lured with wet food or tuna fish. He has also been microchipped, he won't wear a collar. I'm going to check in Smithfield tomorrow to see if he'd been trapped and picked up or if they ended up with him somehow. Does anyone have the phone#'s for the pound in Smithfield and the Clayon Animal Shelter on Durham St? Does the Clayton Animal Shelter have regular hours? Here's my question, if he did get trapped, where would he have been brought? Because we live in Clayton, but outside the city limits, would it be Smithfield?? Frisky is the orange cat on the left... Please call me at 422-0124, or 553-8949 if you happen to see him, he's my baby boy and I miss him dearly. Brenda
Frisky is a pretty boy, he reminds me of one of my childhood cats, Peaches. I sure hope you find him soon!
Thanks R2CMK... I also should add, he has HUGE feet for a kitty... the other kitty in the photo is my Ms.Kitty.. she was about to scratch her ear which is why she looks so funny in the photo.
I saw that Ms. Kitty's back leg was in the air getting ready to attack that ear itch. I adore cats and being allergic to them really STINKS. :-(
udpate... still no Frisky.. Been to the shelter in Smithfield this afternoon, DH stopped at the one in Clayton, and have stopped by or called numerous vets to see if he might have been injured and dropped off. :-(
Ditto that! So sorry Frisky is still missing. He is beautiful. I will keep my eyes open for him and will say a little prayer for his safety until he returns home. I believe he will show up eventually, unless someone has "adopted" his as their own. Sure hope not. We had a male cat that was gone for 3 weeks and were just certain we would never see him again. Then, all of a sudden one night he showed up, rubbed up against my husband's leg, and acted like nothing was wrong! You just never know with these boys. He may just be out "prowling" checking out the neighborhood. I sure hope so! Please keep us informed.
you're only a couple of miles from wake county...i'd check their shelter, too, if i were you. supposedly they scan every animal that comes in....i only live a couple of miles up the street...we'll keep an eye out
Thanks everyone.. the shelter in Clayton suggested that yesterday, checking the Wake County shelters.. I'm gonna do that today. Thanks for the prayers for his return home... I know I have 8 cats, but I'd miss any one of the just the same... love 'em all... my 4-legged children!
I hate to say it, but at the SPCA in Wake there is only a 5 day hold on strays. Maybe he roamed around a bit before being brought in?? So please check the kitties available for adoption as well. You can go to spcawake.org and then click on search cats available for adoption. If you see one that looks possible, PM me and I can get details and let you know if he was brought in from your area. You can file a lost report with both Wake county shelters on line, but they are not great about finding matches with cats. (They all look alike after a while.) But go in person and look yourself just to be sure!! Good luck!! I hope you get your kitty back, let me know if you get any leads that I can help with.
Oh Tassy, so sorry to hear - i know it's a little late but haven't been online in awhile - hope you find your baby soon:cry:
Thanks for the website, I checked the adoptables and didn't see him there. I tried to go to the wake county animal shelter off Hwy 64 & Corporation Rd., but they were closed for employee training. I'll try to hit them again tomorrow, and the place on 70 in Garner too.
The one on 70 is only open from 3-6.... so plan accordingly. Did you put up signs? Maybe a neighbor does have him and doesnt know you are looking? Maybe??
FRISKY CAME HOME!!! YAYYYY! I'M SUCH A HAPPY MOMMY NOW!!! Sorry for yelling... but I's so excited!! Thank you everyone for keeping an eye out, the shelter advice and for the prayers in general!! He feels a little skinny along his spine, and he fell right into a plate of wet food...and brought home a tick.. but other than that he seems just fine. Like he never even left or knew that he had me scared to death he was gone forever... I LOVE MY FRISKY BOY!!
