My god...They just issued an Amber Alert on a missing 3 year old girl. Her mother went in to go pay for her gas and some guy jumped into her jeep and took off.

I can't imagine what is going thru in that lil girl's mind.

I hope the find her quickly.

Well hopefully when he does realize that he has a toddler in the car and hopefully he will do the right thing by going back to the gas station and return the car and the lil girl.

Dear God I hope they find him fast! Stuff like that makes my heart sink.

You're right ken... sometimes it is easier to leave them in there for that 5 or 10 seconds to throw the $20 on the counter and say from pump #4. Which I have done before BUT >>>
I have 2 sets of keys one that keeps the car running if I have to get out of the truck when the kids are in there and the other locks the doors.

How many times do people see this on the news, but still don't think of the consequences when they do it themselves? It's sad that it takes something like this to make people wake up and see what going on around them.

I don't even have a child, and I never leave the car running or unlocked to go in anywhere, even if it is only 10 seconds to lay a $20 on the counter.

I guess I just remember a story that happened in the sleepy little suburb of Boston from when I was in high school. Someone jumped out just to run a handful of mail to the drop-box just inside the post office lobby.. and in that 15 seconds.. the car and 2 children in car seats were gone.. police tracked the car... it turned into a high speed chase.. and then a firey crash and the children and car thief were killed in the explosion. But.. it just always stuck with me that in the 5 seconds your back is turned, anything can happen. Why invite trouble.. with all the car-jackings and crap in the news today???

I really do hope they find the child safe, forget the vehicle.

UPDATE.. as I am about to submit this, there is a news update, child & car were found at Creedmore & Strickland.

Yep, he ditched the car and the child at the McDonald's there. Report is saying the child is ok, was still in the car seat:-D

I pray they find her quickly!

We were having lunch at Big Steve's last Friday. A lady parked immediately outside next to curb and came in to pick up a take out order. She took her baby out of the car and brought into Big Steve's with her. I commented to my wife that she was a very smart lady. You just can't be too careful.

They found the child? Thank God! A Child Abduction Alert came up on TWC, but it gave no info, maybe that's why.

You know... that is so true ken. I have never thought of it but my older child would probably try to play mommy in the driver's seat like you said. See now I feel guilty!
Even though he is in car seat in the back... it isn't THAT hard for him to get out in a split second. One stupid mistake like that and off goes the firing squad on how I'm a bad parent all because I thought I was playing it safe.

I'm just glad they found the kid!!:):)

Whats taking so long to find this guy...Don't they have security cameras at the gas station and at Mickey D's where he droped the car off. They have to have a picture of what he looks like. I figure if he did this kind of crime, I am sure he already has a criminal record should already have his profile in the system.

Deja vu here. . .the song remains the same. . .parents need to wake up and realize that you can't leave their kids in a vehicle with or without the keys in it. Didn't this woman have a debit card - if you are too lazy to unpack your kid and bring them into the store with you, then pay at the pump! I'm sorry, but if they started charging these parents with child endangerment (which is what it is) maybe they'd wise up.

Glad the child is okay - they are the innocent one here.

Thank God the victims are OK. When my kids were too young to leave alone, I would'nt even stop at a gas station unless they had pay-at-the-pump. Just about all stations have it now. Debit cards are not that hard to get, if you can get a checking account. Not too difficult to do to keep your kid(s) safe.
