Association Names Teacher Assistant of the Year SMITHFIELD-- The Johnston County Association of Teacher Assistants has named Sandra Moore of Polenta Elementary School the 2006-2007 Teacher Assistant of the Year. Moore, who wrote a moving essay as part of the requirement for those nominated for the honor, has served as Teacher Assistant with Johnston County Schools since 1995. Moore wrote of the qualities and characteristics of a good teacher assistant, admonishing those in the education field to take the time to care for the students under their tutelage.
