That could be a debatable point as to whether your house is or is not the best place to live since you say you are not wealthy and have a number of animals already. And why not allow that animal to reproduce and spread diseases because they cannot afford to have is neutered or give it the required shots. Yes, and some of the areas in which they are kept are larger than a single wide where some people are kept ... your point being? They should keep them like plants? You need to think a little more before writing, your emotions make the message less clear.

I think the point that Pirategirl was trying to make (and girl correct me if I'm wrong) is that the way the shelters, and resuce groups see it is: If you can't afford say $100 for an animal that has already been fixed, had all it's shots, and been tested for things like lukemia or heartworms, then how do you expect to get a free animal, and pay for those things out of pocket? Yes I know that there are lost cost S/N programs, and free rabies clinics, and that you can buy 7 in 1 shots at Agrisupply, but all those things add up, and 99.9999% of the time, the adoption fee is less than what paying for all those things individually would be.
That was my take on her post as well. The other issue is ensuring the animals are neutered. I have heard of animals who adopted before they were of an age to neuter and there was a free coupon for the process provide which was never used. Of course, they may have paid for the process twice, which I did with one of my rescued dogs, but there has to be a concern that some are never neutered.
