ok, I don't know much about MP3 players except that Ipod is the "IT" player and the expensive one I might add. What is the difference, other than price, when buying a MP3 player? Any recommendations / advice as I brave the shopping season to get one for my DS? I just don't want to buy IPOD if there is a more reasonable deal on another MP3 player that does the same thing. 8) THANKS!!! :allears:
I have always had iPods, 1) because I like them, 2) because you are pretty much locked into them if you purchase any music from the iTunes store. Typically, without conversion software, you will not be able to play it on another mp3 player.
My boys have the iPod. I had just a regular mp3 player. now I have an iPod. to me personally, they are just better. I like the way they operate, look, sound and the ease of loading music on them. you dont have to put batteries in them. you can get a docking station so he can use it in his room. my boys love theirs. IMO, its worth getting.
While on the subject...I just bought my son a cheap mp3 player for xmas. He has a tendency to break things, so I didn't want to buy an expensive ipod for him. If he does good with this, then next year, maybe he'll get an ipod. Question: is Itunes only for an ipod? I haven't opened the box yet, will I be able to download songs from cd's onto the mp3 player? I'm assuming this is probably the only way I can get songs onto the mp3 player if I can't use Itunes. I have an ipod, and the itunes library full of songs for my ipod, will I be able to use this library to download songs to his mp3 player?
My family owns a few ipods. I decided to get one for the wife this Christmas and searched everywhere online for the best deal. I also wanted to stay with the 3rd generation ipods, as I have heard many people expressing dissatisfaction with the 4th. I found the best deal at Amazon. Apple iPod nano 4 GB Silver (3rd Generation) - $104.99 Free Belkin Leather Folio Case for iPod nano 3G (Black) - Included Free Free Shipping Signed up for Amazon Credit Card and Received $30 off. http://www.amazon.com/Apple-iPod-na...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1227708044&sr=1-1
I bought an MP-3 at Khol's for $20. I can download music from Wal*Mart for 74¢ each (less than iTunes who charge 99¢), of course most music I rip to MP3 from my own stock (legal, as long as you own the album/CD) iPod and iTunes are a rip off.
Yeah, but the wally world mp3 players just aren't as "cool". LOL! That's what my 8 yr. old daughter kept telling me. In fact every time I refer to it as a MP3 player, she quickly points out that it is an "Ipod". I actually have two of the "ILO" mp3 players from Walmart and they are great little players.
the regular mp3 players work fine. but I couldn't get my cd's downloaded on the one that I had. iPods you can put your entire cd collection on your iPod. I use the WalMart site for songs for my iPod too. YOU CANNOT download most itunes files onto other MP3 players, the formats do not match up. itunes is an mp4 format, so it doesn't go with the mp3. it can be converted of course, but just more stuff for the brain I choose to forego.
They don't work any better than the $20 no-name model. Their appeal is strictly marketing (witness mudd77's eight year old daughter).
Kiddo has a $30 Sandisk. It's okay, but it wasn't very user friendly. I have an Ipod Nano. Kiddo wants an Ipod touch, and she isn't getting one. No way I'm going to spend that kind of money for one when I can get something like this for a fraction of the cost. http://www.overstock.com/Electronic...ue-Personal-Media-Player/3301912/product.html
Believe what you want. My $20 model can play just as well as your $120 model, and will last just as long. There are no songs on iTunes that can't be downloaded cheaper from another vendor. If you want to pay for the logo, please feel free. I'm sure Steve Jobs could use another house in Sonoma.
Yes they do. You can buy the music gift cards at the Wal*Mart store and then use it to download from the on-line site. http://mp3.walmart.com/store/home
Agreed, my son had a 15 dollar Trutech model that Grampa picked up at the exchange a few years ago. It worked great, even after two trips through the washing machine. DS was just happy to have something that stored and played music - he could have really cared less as to what brand it was or how much money somebody had to shell out for it.
Well you all are making me feel a little better about the $25 mp3 player I got my son for xmas. I wasn't sure if the cheap ones were any good. But we're going to ny for xmas, and I'm planning on putting some songs on it for him before then so he has something to listen to on our way back (from my cd's, I'm hoping, if I can figure it out). And I'll also give him some walmart songs on a gift card that he can do when we get home. So that sounds like a plan then! Thanks for the help everyone! I just hope it works ok. But there was no way I was spending $100 on an ipod for a 9 yo!
I would not feel bad spending 25$ on a music player for a 9YO, but I would feel bad spending 125.00 on one for a 9YO. But that is just me, some folks have more money than sense.
blah blah, I already said that....and I said to each his own. and I already said they both work great, and it depended on what you wanted them for.
