I have an iPod and use ITunes to download music. It's 99 cents a song and very easy to manage and download to your computer. I assume you can use an mp3 on there as well, but you can check. Just go to apple.com to start. It's great. I know there's tons of websites where you can download and manage music, just be careful not to share songs with others on there. That's copyright infringement and you will get busted- -trust me! Using an iPod/mp3 just takes basic computer skills. Nothing fancy.

Walmart has a music store that you can buy mp3 songs on.

I am not 100% sure but I think if you have anything other than an iPod you can't use iTunes. I have heard that Rhapsody is a good choice.

Yeah, you may be right. Crazy Fabulous is right about the WalMart thing though. That may be a good option for you.

I am pretty sure that Limewire is the one that we were told to stay away from. My oldest son got a MP3 player last year, but we got 3 months of Rhapsody free when we purchased it. He came home after the summer and it mysteriously got broken, but my husband did a bunch of research and he liked Rhapsody the best. Now they both have iPods...so iTunes it is.

Same here, unfortunately the deal ends in November! Most people don't realize Pepsi caps are worth a bout $0.20 a piece and Coke caps $0.12 a piece

Limewire is a peer to peer site just like Napster used to be. I was one of the first on Napster and enjoyed it alot but learned from experience that you really don't want peer to peer. It means that you are downloading songs from someone else's computer and they are downloading from yours. Not taking them but copying them. I don't think you want someone on your computer unless you know who it is.

My teen downloaded Limewire and I told her to take it off and explained it to her. Not something we want.

We have iPods and we use the iTunes store and other song sites. My daughter uses iTunes on her computer and I use RealPlayer. I think it is just whatever is easier for the user.

If you believe recordings of soundwaves should be free, and that the only ethically chargeable service is the live performance involving musicians demonstrating their talent ...then you can use Limewire. Be warned however that the RIAA and law enforcement do not share this enlightened view.

Sherry... I am curious. How do you know you were one of the first people on Napster - were you member # 4 or something?

If you have some CD's on your computer you can *copy* them to your MP3 player.

I was using that in general because at the time most people had not heard about Napster and yes we had very few people on at the time. Once the publicity came them more and more people joined. I was actually on the Beta version that he started with. It was a lot of fun to begin with.

    HG,

We have copied every CD we own onto our iPods and sure do enjoy setting them up in Playlists. I think it is pretty cool.

I got busted by Capitol Records for $3900 for peer to peer. That's the part that is illegal, "sharing." That's what we were told by our lawyer anyways.
