I'm feeling a bit older today, but I'm very proud of Brittney! Due to the massive staff turnover at West this year, she has been forced to find an alternate location for presenting her senior project dance performance. Originally, she was told that using the auditorium at WJHS wouldn't be an issue by Dr. Harris -- exit Dr. Harris and here come issues. So, she has limited time to annouce the event and really no time to publish or advertise for it. Anyway, I digress! So, without further blabber, by child demand (actually she asked very politely if I could post here, looking my way, batting her eye lashes with that innocent smile -- if she only knew how wrapped around her fingers I am), I prensent Brittney's senior project! Brittney will be hosting a dance show consisting of school peers and herself, designed and choreographed by her, the culmination of time and effort in completion of her senior project! The show will be held in the cafetorium of McGees Middle School this Friday, December 15th. There is a $5 admission with all proceeds being donated to the nonprofit organization VH1 Save The Music. VH1 Save the Music Foundation has two primary missions: to restore music education programs in America's public schools, and to raise awareness of the positive impact music -- thier website can be found at http://www.vh1.com/partners/save_the_music/ and I encourage you to give it a look. Brittney has always been a dancer at heart, she is planning to obtain a dance degree in her college endeavors with her primary choice of schools being North Carolina School of the Arts (NCSA). The show is open to the public and I encourage everyone to come and enjoy the show. What: senior project dance show When: Friday December 15th Time: 7PM Where: McGees Middle School Cafetorium Cost: $5 with all proceeds going to VH1 Save the Music ** Parking is in the back next to the busses (as we understand) for cafeteria entrance Brittney was one of the student instructors for the McGees Middle School color guard last year, and she would like to thank the staff and administration of McGees Middle School for use of the facilities on such short notice. I too commend and thank everyone at McGees Middle School for supporting and helping Brittney with her project! Thank you, Randy Tice
If you haven't already done so, you should also put this on the 4042 Calendar of Events. Good Luck to your daughter on her project!
I also have heard that West was actually requesting the normal county fees for rental of the auditorium for any of the kids that wanted to put on "shows" for thier senior projects. I understand outside "indivduals" should pay for use, but students working on a requirement for graduation? My son presented his in class the other day, went very well. Now once Tuesday at 2pm rolls around and he finishes with the judges, I'll be alot happier parent. By the time kids that are in middle school get to high school, they'll have to write a dang thesis to graduate.
I've also been informed/updated that Josh Adams will be doing portions of his senior project that night as well playing with his band before, during, and after the show! I must say, I'm really impressed w/Brittney's ability to focus on her task at hand what with the passing of her cousin a couple weeks back, missing a week of school as a result, and returning to learn she had to find an alternate location to host her show in a matter of days -- I'm real proud of her.
As I understand it, this is true -- Brittney is meeting w/the staff and custodians at the school today, I'll have to pay for the facility use out of my pocket but I don't mind (I'm just glad she finally has a place to perform).
