Town of Clayton hired a urban planning firm, ETd, to develop a NC 42/US 70 Small Area Plan. The plan extends from Government Road past Amelia Church Road on both sides of the highway. They have had 2 meetings with land owners in the area and interested citizens. Last evening in the Town Council Room at the Clayton Center EDt presented their small area plan. The plan is huge. NC 42 is shown as a 4 lane, median divided highway from Clayton to US 70 Bypass. The plan includes the Johnston County Hospital. big box stores, hotels, medical office buildings, office building, restaurants, residential areas, and a Continuing Care Retirement Center (patio homes to nursing home). At the conclusion of the presentation the land owners and citizens were invited to join the planners at small drawings of the proposed plan to answer questions and get feed back of the proposed plan. This is the same way the 1st meeting was conducted. Both meeting were designed to get feed back from land owners and other attendees. Johnston County Hospital's decision to build on US 42 will change the landscape of this area forever.
oh you have done it now, how dare you talk about economic progress on this board, all the new growth Chicken Little's are going to come out of the woodwork now. they don't like it when new businesses want to build. most will complain that they don't like hospitals or that Smithfield is not to far away. man, have you ever stepped in it.
