Why was this intersection re-routed? What was accomplished by bending Old Drug Store Road that could not have been accomplished at the old intersection?
It is for the new subdivision going in across the road, to have everything lining up better. Like Kaci says.

In fact, if you pay attention, you can see the beginnings of the new entrance to the new s/d - directly across hwy 50 from the new end of ODS Rd.
Actually saving money. To add a turning lane at old intersection the bridge would have had to be widened. A lot more less expensve to do the little jog, although turning left from NC 50 heading south is a wicked turn.
There was an accident in the bad curve this afternoon. I think the car flipped and landed back on it wheels, windshield was all messed up. On Old Drug store going to 50, the road is really rough right before the curve. Then need to fix it!!
