I need a DJ for my daughter's 14th birthday party. I'm on a somewhat tight budget and I've been told that the going rate is $100.00 an hour and most charge a 4 hour minimum. Is this true? Can anyone reccomend someone who is a little more reasonable?
my brother does it on the side... not that expensive though. He has the equipment and just plays the music ( not all the talking ). If interested PM me...
too bad you would allow your dislike of me to stop you from hiring me. I'm one of the best around and that's a fact. I'd even give you a rate.
Cirkus, Rock Of Ages...also do a single acoustic act.....as well as doing some regular karaoke shows... I have the longest running show in the state...
show? as in DJ'ing or just entertainment?? because my uncles have been around since I was a toddler (and I was born in 1976) LOL Not familiar with the bands you listed but that does not mean anything because there are a lot of good ones out there that I have not heard of!! I was a bartender back in the day and had many bands and single acts play at our place and then I know several of the guys personally... Was not sure if you were a part of any or not. They were cover bands though.... (magic pippers, travis proctor, amazing loung lizards and so on)
opps... single act - just re read that! I guess you mean the other stuff you do! Just thought you meant DJ due to the topic....
Yea, thought of that. Also found a place with a brand new karaoke mahcine with 6,000 songs on it. She shot both of them down  I have absolutely no idea what that means, but whatever.
That was my first reaction, so I guess I'm not either. She has been to several birthday parties that have had them, though.
glad that getting the opportunity for that shot was enjoyable for you....fortunately for me, my self esteem is not tied to it.... Cirkus was one of the bigger unsigned bands in the Southeast in the 80's and consistently filled clubs and theaters large and small throughout the Southeast. shared the stage with a lot of big bands and had a large enough following that we sometimes headlined over National acts in certain Southeast markets....now we only play reunion shows every few years... people who were around in the heyday of the Switch and Cameron Village Underground certainly knew us..... Rock Of Ages is a Big Hair Tribute Band made up of a core of other busy musicians who get together and play occasionally... besides myself Dave from Automag, Jay Rusnak from 80'Z Enuff and Ron Keel, Jason Patterson from Cry of Love and COC, Rodger Bennett from Sidewinder, a finalist band on Star Search back in the day, are part of the core of players that gets together from time to time. All are first class respected players. I wouldn't expect a person who's not cognizant of the going rate for a professional dj to know anything about bands either. No big deal.
How about one of your daughter's schoolmates? Friends of ours are having a BBQ this weekend and wanted a DJ. I asked some high school students that I know and they were able to forward a couple of names and numbers our way. There are always kids in HS that play in bands or DJ on the side. And because they are just starting out, the price is certainly right!!
Steve, I've never heard of that band either and I was very into music from early on...I'm also from a city in the South that had numerous bands travel thru that were unsigned at many different night spots as well as at the stadium... Frogger
