I'm having some trouble finding a good groomer for my handicapped dog, Bella. When Bella was a puppy, her original owners beat her and broke her leg. They did not seek vet treatment, so as a result, her leg grew in straight. She can walk just fine she just has a problem with standing for long periods of time. Our last groomer had difficulty (she was the only groomer there) so we had to help her hold Bella up so she could be groomed. I don't think she was experienced enough with handicapped dogs so I thought I would try on here to see if there are any groomers or one that someone can recommend. She's not at all aggressive, just can't stand very long. Looking for someone gentle and patient, will probably need more than one groomer. Bella's my baby so I'm looking for the right groomer. Mobile or an office, either one is fine! I also have two other rescue dogs, one is a senior Mastiff/Sheppard mix with a bad hip, the other is a shih-poo so I'll switch all three dogs over for the right groomer. Here's a picture of Bella after her last groom, you can see the leg in this pic. Thanks everyone!
I'd check with Rachel at Curbside Clips. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Curbside-Clips-Mobile-Grooming/192294910781538
Both Rachel & Jean are AWESOME!!!! Send JeanS a PM on the board, her co is Bark & Bath mobile Grooming
I have no good info for you....just wanted to say that your baby is a cutie!! Thanks for having a heart large enough to love the special ones!! :grouphug:
Aw, thanks!!! I've been wanting a pug next, but I just can't fork out that much money for a dog plus I just can't adopt an animal that's not a rescue. I would feel guilty! My friend pointed me to a pug rescue group. Now I'm just waiting for the perfect pug and for my SO to allow dog #4 into our home. We also have three rescue cats as well.
I sent her a message through facebook with Bella's picture attached. Bella can't stand for very long, thats why I suggested to the last groomer to let her lay down, do what she could (back, legs, etc) and save the belly for last. The girl just got frustrated and she missed ALOT of spots. We had to come in (from Clayton to Cary!) and help her hold up Bella. I won't go back to her, I cancelled my other dog's appts. That's why I'm trying to find a good groomer, I think patience is key with Bella, lol. (and experience with the handicap)
I don't think Rachel at Curbside Clips is in business any longer. I've used her before but I have left out least 4 messages for her over the last month and half and she has never returned any of my calls. I am trying to find someone else in the area
Yes Rachel is still in business, she just took care of my baby 2 weeks ago, don't know why she wouldn't return your call, she has always been very prompt in getting back to me.
Call her, I don't think she has updated her FB page in a while. I've always had to leave a message and she calls back within a few days.
