OK, so I normally mind my own business when it comes to neighbors but I have had enough.

The people next to me have a dog, hes under a year old. They leave the poor thing tied to a tree with NO shelter. It kills me when it rains or is cold to know hes outside in it. They do feed/water him and occasionally walk him. What can be done?..isnt there a rule saying animals have to be provided shelter in this county?

I dont want animal control to take him to the pound and have him possibly be put to sleep. I just want my neighbors cheap ignorant asses to get the poor thing a dog house.

On another note, isnt it illegal to have a non operating car sitting in a side yard?. They are guilty of that too and im sick of looking at it.

Yes, dogs are suppose to have some kind of shelter provided to protect them from the elements, and it's the law! Maybe you should print this out for your neighbors...

I have a medium size Igloo dog house that I will give you for that poor dog if you think your neighbors will put it out for him/her.

I'd call animal control.. the owners have to provide acceptable shelter for an animal left outside.

For the car... it may depend on your sub-divisions by-laws or covenants and if anyone really enforces them. I don't think there is a county law regarding non-operating vehicles unless it becomes an environmental issue (leaking oil & fluids into the ground, etc...). I could be wrong on that one though.

If you call animal control, they will come out and talk with the owners. They really don't want to take the dog, they want to educate the public.

I would call down there and just ask them to come out and speak to the owners about the adequate shelter thingy.

And the dead car does depend on your neighborhood/subdivision convenants....

I would leave the doghouse in their yard one night. They wake up to find Fido snug as a bug in his new house.

As for the junk cars... I would print this off and leave it on their junk car (or taped to their front door) -

Think I'll do the same for one of my neighbors... Sanford & Son. Er, I mean Sanford and Wife.

Animal control won't do anything about it. My neighbor kept their puppy closed up all day in a small storage room until he outgrew it. then they kept him tied up. half the time he stayed tangled and couldn't reach his food or water. he was out there in the rain and the heat with no shelter. i called and they didn't do a thing. the poor dog layed there until he died.

I hate to see dogs tied out, whether they have shelter or not.

How about taking the igloo that ready2cmyking is offering and just put it in the yard when the neighbors are gone? I'ld do it just to see the "What the..." looks on their faces.

I know the JAPL folks and I have a truck. It would be very easy for me to pick up one of those free houses and bring it somewhere. Just say the word.

    Snuff

PS I'm fostering a very sweet dog if anyone is looking for a new pet.

Didn't Jeff Foxworthy write a book about your neighbors a while back?

Well..those who offered to help...we may need it. My husband and I have watched, and during this cold snap they have NOT gotten him shelter yet.

So, if the free dog house is still available let me know. I will gladly give the address out. It kills me to know the poor thing is outside in this cold.

    Cars in the yard....

It depends on the car :D

If its a classic, let em keep it. If its a bucket, offer to haul it off for free and call your local junkyard.
