my boss asked me to get a cdl licence, he gave me $32. and told me to go take the test, i did, I failed it, I took the book home vagely looked over it, went back failed again now i freeked out about taking the darn test and quite honestly I dont even want to driva a damn old clunker of a bus!!! now he is insisting that i go take the test again and refuses to give me the $ to do it, he feels that i should pay for it because he paid for it the first time what do you think, shouldnt he pay for it? keep in mind i dont want this burden of a cdl and dont feel i should pay for something i dont want, also i have been working with this person for a year without having to driva a darn bus!!! I have worked for corp. before and know first hand that if you want an employee to take a specific test that the comp. pays for it, and will pay for it again if you fail it, because the comp. requires you to hold a certain licence therefor they pay for it. Ok folks, what do you think. Please be nice ( really need spell check)
lots of jobs state in the description of requirements that you have to have certain certifications before they hire you, in which case you'd have already had to pay for it before they even hire you. if your job now requires it, and he paid for it the first time, i'd say it's on you
I would say you need to study the handbook instead of vaguely looking it over because it's going to cost you $32.00 next time, who's paying for the physical,
You should have to pay for next exam. It was not your company's fault you did not study before taking the exam. It is not rocket science.
and the written test is only ONE part of the long CDL process... DH had to have his fingers printed in Ral. & checked out for national secruity. He passed but now there are a few more things he has to do. He's getting his Haz-Mat CDL that might be another box of cookies?
not so, he told me to take his $32 and go try to take the test. so I did. and failed terribly, he said the test was no big deal and he didnt study for it and didnt think i would need to either. Guess things changed since he took his.
My job made me get my CDL, they paid (But I passed the first time) I hated having to drive, loved the other part of my job.... so I ended up having to quit. If you dont think you want this part of the job, negotiate out of it, or start looking for another job. There is no sense going through all this if it is not something you want to do. But I hate to say it, if they paid once, I think it is on you. Who paid for the second test?
..................$32 pays for 3 chances, first ne boss said just go try, 2nd one i read the booklet and took the wrong test, (did'nt need hydrolics) so failed #2 because they gave me hydrolics test did'nt go back for 3rd cause cant figure out who is more confused meor them. have to say I am looking for other options, I love what i am doing but i absolutly DO NOT WANT TO DRIVE A BUS expecially for the pay rate i am at.
I may be wrong here but my husband just recently renewed his CDL's and he did not pass (the hazmat part) on the first try and he only had to pay when he passed and actually got his license. I don't think they charge you every time you take the test if you don't pass. Check into that. But, be glad they are only charging you $32. . . his license was $168 PLUS the $94 he had to pay to be fingerprinted for the new security thing.
You asked - why do you have to pay for something you don't even want... Evidently driving a bus is a requirement for your job. If you don't meet the requirements, you don't have the job. Either you need to buckle down, study, and pay the $32 or get another job. Only two options to me.
I'd quit if I were you. For starters you do not want to drive a bus, so even if you did get your CDL, and you drove a bus, I would not want to be on your bus or even on the road near your bus, because if you are doing a job you really don't like, you might be a danger to other people..... I would definitely look for another job that you can enjoy. Good Luck...
