I need to know the best way to get to the Kids Exchange consignment sale at the fairgrounds. I've never been there and I don't know that area at all. I checked Google maps and the fairgrounds website, but it is a bit confusing with all the different gates and ways to get there. Can someone who has been tell me exactly how to get there from 40/42? It's in the Jim Graham building at the fairgrounds. Thanks for any help!!!

    40 west to wade ave.
    wade ave to blue ridge.
right on blue ridge about 3 blocks to hillsborough street
right on hillsborough, go to the second gate in the fence on your right.
    turn in.
if you drive straight ahead 100 yards, you'll be in between the dorton arena (big lily pad shaped thing on your right) and the graham building (long white skinny building on your left.

    Kids Exchange Sale

This sale is the best consignment sale around! I probably will not be able to go until Sunday. I would suggest you bring some kind of wagon or laundry basket with a 'strap' attached. They have carts but they get gone quick. If you plan on buying some items this would make it easy. Also plan on standing in line for a few hours!! Good Luck and have fun!!

Also, once you enter the fairgrounds they have big banners and signs directing you to the building where it is held.

Dangerboy - thanks for those great directions! I'll have no problem finding it!

Breezy - thanks for the advice! I'm actually selling for the first time, so I'm dropping my stuff off in the morning and then shopping the sellers day on Thursday. Hours in line? Wow, I think I'll go without my little one then!

    Thursdays sale

The sale may state it opens at 9am, but I suggest getting there at least by 7:30-7:45 and bring something to sit on while you wait (perhaps turn your laundry basket that you are bringing in your wagon upside down!) I kid you not, there will be a long wait both to get in on Thursday and to check out!!!

I fully agree with bringing a laundry basket or wagon. You will see Moms stacking their loads then going over to the side to sort and pick out what they really want to buy. Get ready to HUNT, dig and elbow your way to a few deals if you are buying! This is NOT the sale to bring a child- it is crazy big & busy.

Be sure to test all snaps & zippers.

Last year I found that the sale had much more -used- clothes, stuff that was just worn out, jeans w/ knees ripped out and dirty/stained clothes. It all depends on WHO is watching the clothes that go into the sale. It was not like this 3 years ago.

I realize it is difficult to keep a watchful eye on what is brought in to sell.

    AND
Last year the pay by CASH line was by far FASTER!! (Hint to bring CASH!)

Please post how YOU thought the sale went as a buyer & as a seller.

I was going to sell this year, but when I registered and emailed them for some help on a few things, they never got back to me....so

I guess I'll just be going as a consumer. I think I'm going on Sunday with some friends, isn't that half price day or something?

Sounds like a crazy place to be! I have a sinus infection and not feeling so well tonight, so I'll have to see if I even feel like going tomorrow with all the crowds and standing around.

I was given an extra pass for tomorrow for a guest and I haven't found anyone that wants to go, so if anyone wants to go tomorrow and can come and get it, I'll be glad to pass it along.

yes, sunday is half price day, and occsionally you can still find some deals depending on what you're looking for (clothes, mostly), but it's a serious shopfest from thu-sat, so usually most of the good stuff is gone by then....jmho

I have been to this sale as both seller and buyer. Was not impressed this last time doing the fall/winter sale. Tons of used worn out clothes. Stuff that wasn't clean. Gross. I have also bought and sold with KidsEverywear. They do their consignment twice a year also, but out at the factory outlet mall in Morrisville. They rent one huge storefront for just equipment and toys, and a completely seperate storefront for clothes. They have been much tighter on their quality control, and offer lots and lots of name-brand clothes (Gymboree, OldNavy, Gap, Oshkosh, Carter, Patsy Aiken, etc.) Not so much of the cheaper, and they weed out a lot of the very dated stuff. If you're interested go to www.kidseverywear.com to read about them. They say they are hoping to do a spring sale in March.

    Ditto
Well said Mom of 3 girls.

That is my very fav-o local consign sale. I call it the "Cary" sale as all of the better name brands are there. A big plus is that they are ULTRA careful about what they take to sell. No crap, no junk, no stains.
