We need several loads of gravel or crush & run for our driveway. I've dealt with a guy in the past who did a great job and was very upfront with me about his charges- he basically charged $100 per load PLUS the actual cost of the gravel. He even brought me the scale receipt from the quarry showing the weight and the price. Problem is, the last load we got was ~$400, and I think we'll need 4 or 5 loads this time. So, can anyone recommend a good reliable person to deliver some gravel to me that won't break the bank. We live off of Raleigh Rd, not far from West Johnston HS. The driveway is easily accessible and they won't have any problems getting in or out or turning around. I'd like them to "gate spread" some of it, but I'll spread the rest if they just dump it in a designated spot. Feel free to post up here or PM me the details if you know of anyone. Thanks! Rig.
Please post here. I'm curious too. My driveway's a bit muddy and we'll need new gravel if not this year then next.
ME too..... I need my entire driveway fixed. When you pull in it looks like you are going to drive over a cliff......
For the price of gravel every so many years, do you not think it would be cheaper to either get it blacktopped or concreted? It looks so much cleaner and nicer.
I cant speak for the others, but our driveway would cost a small fortune....probably could pave a parking lot for cheaper.
Thats why I need someone to fix drive ways. I need suggestions on what I can do. We have a horse shoe drive and it has so many pine trees that border it, I don't know if the roots would effect a black top.
You haven't seen my driveway......... Seriously, our house is probably 1/4 mile or more away from the road. We just can't justify the cost of blacktop or concrete- especially with the cost increases of those 2 materials over the past couple of years. This is a new driveway, and we just need some gravel on it to help stabilize and keep it from being a mud pit when it rains heavily. I can't see us ever paving it.......unless the asphalt or concrete truck fleet breaks down in front of the house and has to drop their load before they can get towed back to the shop.....
that really happened to me and my ex husband at our house, back in 93, when we lived out in New Hill.....no lie.
best stuff to use is crushed rock or what they call abc stone, or if convienent to location recycled concrete, which is similar to crushed rock but a bit cheaper, also if you get it done it's good to have it rolled in real good using water and a decent size vibratory roller and roll the crap out of it. If done this way it would be good for several years or more depending on area and terrain.
OMG-- I think I know where that HELLISH RED CLAY driveway is. :ack: What a mudslick, I'm sure your DW's car is a red clay mess. I'll bet she is a mad lady about that. {Sorry to rib ya!} 8)
Yeah, add me to the list. I definitely need some. Can't afford to concrete my driveway either, it's nearly two hundred feet long. Should have done it years ago, now it's too late.
Hey guys, my old employer sells it and the prices were the best around. Call Stephenson's on 50 and talk to Danielle 894-2700 - tell her i sent ya i have referred a lot of people on here over the years and have yet to have anyone disappointed. Good luck all.
You may still want to check the price of concrete. I had been told it would be 10-12K to do my driveway--but the economy is bad and people still need work. We just got ours done for $5100. It is 102 feet long and we had made large at the top for the kids to play. It starts out 34 wide then gradually goes to 12 ft. Just a thought it may not be as expensive as you think.
:iagree: we did ours several yrs ago - one of the best things we invested in, no major crackage either....
Who did you use, we are still getting $9000 plus quotes, but it is a long driveway... I would like to get more quotes!
