I have 4 coupons for 25% off (exp 12/31/06) for Lasik with Dr. Lori Travers if anyone is interested in them. HG 8)
I wish I could afford it before the end of the year.. but that's not happening with Christmas around the corner... I'm kind of a chicken about it too.. I heard too many people complain about "halo's around lights" while driving at night.. that would drive me absolutely insane and give me a migraine to boot. So.. until the day some one can tell me the surgery is foolproof and guarantee no halo's at night.. then I don't think I can commit to it.
Talk to DH about his on Saturday night. The BEST investment we have made. You can do payment plans also. 18 mos no interest.
Financing on body parts............absolutely amazing..... What's next? Payment plans on manhood enlargement?
Plastic surgery is financed all the time, I see ads daily for it, Lasik is no different as it is mostly done for cosmetic/convenience reasons.
If you were in the business wouldn't you rather get cusotmers in the door on a payment plan OR have them pay $$$ up front (knowing that they might not be able to and put the whole thing off) If it were me, I'd have payment plans all day long just to get the people who wanted Lasik but couldn't afford $1K, $2K or more up front.
Speaking of body parts, I always thought it quite funny passing that place on Hwy 70 heading towards Smithfield and seeing "Robert's Wholesale Body Parts". Always cracks me up.
I have 20/20 but my son is 30/20. Bless his heart he hates wearing glasses! Kids make fun of him, he wants to wear contacts but I feel he is to young and can't handle that responsibility yet. Anyone have any experience with kids and contacts?
Dr Travers did my Lasik eye surgery last January and it has been the best thing I ever did for myself! The first few weeks were tough ( I had to have the PRK instead of the regular Lasik and that takes longer recovery time) but I am so glad I did it. I dont have any of the "halo effect" at night and I am very happy with my outcome. Love Dr Travers!!
I worked for an optometrist several years ago in Illinois, kids are usually better patients than the adults when it comes to teaching them to wear them. I would much rather teach a child how than some of the older patients who couldn't figure out that they couldn't shove the contact through their eyelid, but actually had to open their eye!  However, if they aren't responsible as far as keeping up with their stuff, I wouldn't do it unless you have LOTS of disposable income to keep replacing their contacts with, LOL!
I think I was in 10th grade when I started wearing them, and thats way before they had disposable ones... mine were about $100/pr and had to be cleaned and disinfected regularly.. i love my daily disposables now...
I don't know how young your son is. I got glasses in the 4th grade - and hated them!!!! I finally got contacts in the 6th grade. I was more than willing to do what I had to do to take care of them - just so I didn't have to wear the glasses. They sure have come a long way in designing decent frames. The glasses I had to wear were just plain ugly (my Mom always picked the ones on the discount rack - glasses are expensive). Now that disposable contacts are out - its probably much easier for kids to care for the contacts. Back in the days I first started wearing contacts - I had to carry a little heater gizmo, distilled H20 and various solutions around with me when I went to sleepovers so I could put my contacts in the cleaner for an hour each night. My husband has contacts currently and all he has to do is drop the contacts in an all-in-one solution. It's much easier these days. 7 years ago I had lasik surgery. I did have to go back for 2 additional flap lifts & an adjustment before they got it right. I had to wear glasses for a year after the 1st suregery and then they finally got things right. I also had artificial tear ducts put in because my eyes were so dry. I was definately aggravated with the process the first year. However, I went cheap and probably would have been better off to have found a more reputable doctor. In the end I do think I've saved lots of money. I used to buy disposable contacts & I kept a pair of glasses for just in case (it used to seem like I could just walk into a daycare when I was wearing contacts & catch pink eye). I haven't had pink eye since I quit wearing contacts - Yipee. In any case I think we paid $2000 for the surgery - but glasses run a few hundred & the cost of disposable contacts adds up quickly. I'm sure after 7 years of no glasses, contacts, cleaning solutions ... I've saved more money than I spent on the surgery. In addition - its wonderful to be able to see the time on the clock in the morning without having to put on a pair of glasses first
Got mine done 3 years ago, some of the best money I've ever spent. And the cost? Only $599.00!!! No, not per eye, for BOTH EYES!!! Here's the kicker... Saw the ad in the Sunday funny papers! And the real funny part, Had the surgery done in the back of a tractor-trailer in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn at Crabtree Valley! Anything for a bargain!!! Have not seen anywhere close to this price advertised since. BTW... surgery was done by The Lasik Institute, highly recommended!!!
