Okay...I'm going to be having a yard sale. It's been many years since I've done this, and I can't remember how much money to get to prepare the "cashier" for the sale. Last time I remember I used a formula I used that worked out well, where you get a certain number of $1.00 bills, $5.00 bills, quarters, etc...but I no longer remember it. Does anyone have any advice on this? Thanks!
When I had mine I got 10.00 in quarters and 10.00 in singles. By the time an hour went by I was set with cash. Hope this helps
We usually have huge yard sales, I would get $10 in quarters, $50 in ones and the balance of $100 in $5's.
^^ The above advice is good. The last couple I have done, the first several people only had $20's and they will wipe you out if your not prepared. I would have at least that many ones and fives on hand.
The last yard sale I had several years ago, hispanic folks converged on me in huge groups. Their kids ran amok and while I tried to run around keeping the kids off of things and protecting my stuff from getting knocked over and broken, the adults robbed me blind. They stole clothes, purses and shoes mostly. I caught one guy and when I ran over and "reminded" him he hadn't paid, he threw the stuff down in the street and they all ran to their car and gunned it. I plan on having several folks come help "watch" this time because I've got lots of stuff and don't plan on giving any away this time.
Watch out for folks switching price tags, we caught some doing that at the last sale my friend and I had together.
Ok while on the subject of yard sales, I need some advice too. Is there a website where you can go to figure out what to charge for some things? I'm too lazy to get up early on Saturday mornings to go to yard sales so I don't know what kind of prices to put on items. My neighborhood is having a yard sale in the next couple of weeks and I thought I would get rid of some of my "stuff" that we no longer use.
 ::WAIT:: You are not trying to tell me that some of our latino dependents are criminals are you?
Also..on the topic of yard sales... does anyone know if Glen Laurel has had their fall community yard sale yet? They have a great neighborhood yard sale!
