Would Clayton residents be interested in a new fabric store?? Wallmart is the only place to buy fabric now, and when they eliminate it, does anyone think the demand for fabric will be great enough for a new store??? I've been considering opening one.
Are they eliminating that section? (not like the fabric was nice) I think that would be a great idea actually. I am sure there are a lot of people around here that would love to see one.
I sew on occasion as well, love Joann's and places like that, HATE to drive to Raleigh for it. I don't know that I would be a source of income, but would come in here and there.
The demand and drive for fabric has been discussed on here before. Seems like a great idea for a local biz and would be hopping with business! gry, like that avatar!
I think it would be a great idea, what about carrying yarns as well? I am a knitter and the only option we have around here is Michaels other than WalMart. Good luck to you. Sharon
Don't forget the cross stitchers! I would love for a store to open around here that sold pattern books, kits, etc.
A sewing/crafting store would be excellent! We have practically nothing around here. Go for it! Frogger
Fabric Store I was at wally world in Smithfield today, and to say their stock was depleted would be an understatement. Their fabric selections were very sparse. I wish you well in a fabric/craft store. Do you know if you would lean more toward quilt fabrics? Or, would it be more of a variety of fabric types (as well as crafts that others have asked for)? I'm in...it's just that we have the Whistle Stop in Smithfield for quilt fabric. I want a store with more of a variety of fabrics to make clothes, both for myself and my kids. I'm certainly in your corner, though!!!
Many thanks to everyone who responded to my post. Your comments and ideas are excellant - and much appreciated. I would like to carry sewing, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, etc. supplies along with a full range of fabrics. Kind of similiar idea to a "mini-Joann's" This is the earliest stage of the business, so I would expect anywhere from 8 to 12 months til opening day. Location ideas? Maybe hwy70, one of the stores near Clayton Appliance?
Definely! I shops fabric stores in Raleigh/Knightdale and I'm starting to get tired of making a trip there already. We really need one here.
Could a small store compete with the sales and selection of a store like JoAnns? WalMart gets a lot of traffic and apparently their fabric department is not profitable.
Is this US 70 east? "Location ideas? Maybe hwy70, one of the stores near Clayton Appliance?" If this is on US 70 East close to Telecris I would look long and hard on that location. The Towne Shoppe and Allium Bistro have already closed in that area.
Looks like Morgan's is going to be around for awhile, and they have a lot of traffic. I'd look in that shopping center for a space. There are a LOT of people here who would make it worth the rent! Keep us informed . Frogger
