I have heard from several people about new schools that are going to be planned soon near Riverdell and it's going to be called Riverdell Middle and Riverdell High. Have you hear anything about this? I just moved into Clayton weeks ago and just wondering about that.....
Yes I believe that is correct, but last I heard, it was not going to be for another 5 years. I will keep my ears open and let you know if i hear anything else.
currently corinth holder is a k-8 school ---the new middle school will be built to allow corinth to be a k-5 elementary -- the new middle school will be built in that vicinity -- and should draw some students from riverwood middles district there was money in the last bond issue for the purchase of land only for a new high school -- my original understanding was that they were searching for land in the thanksgiving/covered bridge area -- drawing kids from triple s and from clayton there is a critical need for a high school in this area --
The new middle school is alreday being built and it is set to open next year. Coming from River Dell, after you cross Covered Bridge, it is down a little bit on your right.
Cleveland Herald today says a $99 million dollar bond willl likely go before voters in May. Priorities for schools will be new elementary schools in E. Clayton and Princeton AND high schools for Corinth-Holders and Cleveland areas.
from 42 go to the Grocery Bag and turn right on Buffalo then go thru the caution light and its about a half mile from there. The new high school is being proposed for somewhere on Applewhite Rd I think. If Becky has anything to do with it, I am sure we will have a Riverdell Middle and High School as well. With all the new building she is doing we are going to need it..
taken from: http://www.newsobserver.com/114/v-print/story/497173.html published 10/11/06 County commissioners' vice chairman Wade Stewart proposed to the school board Tuesday that the county use $2 million in lottery money per year -- about half of what the district expects to receive from the sale of state lottery tickets -- for debt service. The money would allow the district to build schools sooner than under a previous county proposal. The county would still call for a $99 million bond issue to fund school construction that voters would decide on in May. The bond will likely grow to $110 million when Johnston Community College projects and a countywide recreation bond are added. At a joint meeting last month, the two boards appeared stalled on the bond plan. Ann Williams, the school district's facilities director, said the county's schedule for selling bonds starting in 2008 would allow severe overcrowding at some schools. County Manager Rick Hester said that schedule was the only way to sell the bonds without raising taxes. The county is already paying $19 million a year in debt service on school construction. ******** so now that elections have come and gone wonder if Wade Stewart will push the lottery money issue or let it die a quiet death with the hopes that no one will call him on it???
Until the county starts using the schools it has, and the land it has, and the resources it has, to their full capacities, I won't vote to pass another bond. ~Build Up, Not Out~
