New sign on front of old Allium Bistro on US 70 East in Clayton indicates Skyline Cafe. Anyone heard anything about the new restaurant? :?: Also heard this morning that Sweetwater's in Selma has reopened under new management. Son of new owners is supposed to be a good chef. They have Sweetwater's recipe for the cheesecakes.
Dave and Laurie Hamelin bought Sweetwater's << they recently relocated here from Connecticut and are GOOD PEOPLE. Their son is a trained Chef from the Connecticut Culinary Institute and will be making Johnston County the home for him and his family. I had dinner there last night and the cheescake has not changed.
So glad to hear that it's back open. Love eating there and the cheesecake is outstanding! I wish the new owners much luck and success!:!:
Good News Great news. We will be there after they have had a chance to get all the kinks out. Now if this new Skyline Cafe could only be a Clayton version of Big Ed's I will be set.
Only problem I see with anything that opens in that area (especially with the bypass going through) is that it is a poor location to pick-up traffic, with the excpetion of maybe a lunch crowd from the pharmaceutical companies right next door (Hospira, Telecris, Novo). Craig
Very slow service. Only fair food! Had lunch at the new Cafe on US 70 East close to Telecris today. The wait was terrible. Took 30 minutes to get our lunch after ordering. We arrived at 12:30pm. One couple sitting next to us said they arrived at 12:00noon. Finally left with their lunck in take-out box at 1:00pm. Food was only fair. Not worth the wait. If service does not improve this Cafe will be history in a short time. Too bad the owner and staff were very friendly. Maybe others have had a better experience.
