Does anyone know the name of the new Steakhouse in downtown Clayton I have heard about? Has anyone been there?
I ate their on Valentine's Day and was very pleased with my meal. I had the 16oz Ribeye with baked potato, texas toast, and salad bar. It was great! Steak was cooked perfect and was so tender. I usually don't get desert, but the waitress insisted that we at least take a look at the 3 home-made desserts they have. So she brought out a tray with them displayed and I just couldn't resist getting the chocolate cake. It had hot chocolate syrup poured on top and whip cream on top of that. It was SO delicious, it literally melted in my mouth! I was a little weary when I heard about a salad bar in such a nice place, but they have the glass covering all the items and it comes down so much further than that of Ruby Tuesday's! I ended up happy to make my own salad. Any ways, food was great, price was a little on the higher side, but then again, where is a steak priced good? I think my steak was 26.95 and my date's 8oz Ribeye was 18.95. That includes the toast, salad bar and potato. The whole meal, both steaks, drinks and one dessert, ended up costing about $55.00. A little higher than most steak houses but the steak was better so it ended up being worth it. I give it an A++!
I stopped in there earlier. Wanted to have a couple of beers before I ordered and let the waitress know that. Didn't matter. She bugged the crap out of me until I finally left. Could be good if you feel like eating the equiv. of 2-6 meals at one sitting, but not for me.
We were there tonight. Waitress was bad. Rushed us to order. No personality at all. Wham, bam, no thank you. We should have requested Jane (used to run Lanes) but we did not know she was working at Clayton Steakhouse until we were seated. 8 oz. steak was very thin and a lot of fat/grissle. Dessert was very good but the pie was very small piece. Apple crisp was good. I wish Michael and Betsy the best. They were very busy tonight. Outback is a better buy. Purchasing rib eye fron DR Wells and cooking it at home is much better and a whole lot cheaper. If we decide to return we will try the salmon or pork chop.
Having a salad bar means nothing other than allowing the patron an opportunity to get what they want on their own salad. Doesn't mean that the place is any less of a nice restaurant.
going there tonight for dinner let u know what I think the Herald had a little story on it seems pretty cool
I've worked at many restaraunts in the past and a salad bar or even buffets are the largest germ/mold factories you'll ever see. PS Sending you a coupon for the Golden Corral since you appreciate fine dining.
Gee, I know your new and all, but isn't that a little uppity?? So they have a salad bar, I've never eaten there, but it sure won't keep me from trying it. To each his own! 8)
Me and the GF went there tonight to celebrate her selling her first house (well getting a signed contract anyway) and all was well i thought. Prices are a smidge steep...$18.95 for an 8oz ribeye but it was good. GF had the pork chop, which must have come from a wooley mammoth or something because it was freaking huge. Was over an inch thick and pretty dern big. She couldnt eat it all. She got the salad bar and i didnt....still woozy from my dern glasses but she said it had more items on it than it looks like it should. Nice little bar area as well if you just want to sit around and get hammered. $45 and some change for the both of us not counting the $10 tip. Service was fine. There were only 1 or 2 other small groups when we got there. Overall...8.5 1.5 deduction because i prefer t-bones over ribeyes and the smidgely steep price. Will go back.
Grinder- you must have been sitting along the wall? DH & I went tonight as well. We each had the 8oz ribeye b/c it comes with salad bar & potato & bread. I wanted to save room for the homemade desserts. Anyway, great little place. Loved the atmosphere Loved the food & the pricing. Service was good. The only problem I had which is my own personal issue- there were two tables by us that were just to loud for my taste & did not seem to have much cooth. That is not the restaurants fault. Just an issue I have. I would highly suggest going there & you can park in the lot across the street. The desserts are made fresh & change everyday. We really enjoyed it overall & will go back.
Far from new. I just find other things to be doing than posting all day and every day on forums (no pun intended). I swear I'll try it out and give you some feed back, but again any type of buffet or salad bar is a germ factory. Just sit and watch next time you're out. You'll be amazed.
I guess you've never been to Captain George's. The original - in Pungo. 25 bucks a person ain't GC fare.
