Are police reports public record? Can anyone obtain a copy? I'm interest in learning more about a recent drug seizure in my neighborhood. How can I get a report? How soon after the event is it available?

If it is an active investigation you will not be able to gain anything until the investigation is complete and charges have been filed or dropped.

News blurb says she was "charged with manufacturing marijuana and maintaining a residence to keep a controlled substance, both felony offenses"

Wonder if that is still considered an active investigation.

key word 'charged'...she hasn't been 'convicted' yet....my guess she hasn't gone to court yet.

Chances are it is still an active investigation.

So a police report is not available until someone has gone to court and been convicted??? Don't police file reports for most of the calls they go to and file them ... even if there are no charges?

Girl, call the po po and ask them....then you'll know the procedure. They'll tell ya I bet...call the dispatch line or the non-emergency line. They might go ahead and tell you what the deal is....:-D

The name was in the news blurb and street but no house number. I cannot match the name to county GIS data for the street.

What department made the arrest? A copy of the police report has nothing to do with the court conviction. You can obtain a copy prior to the suspect being convicted however, generally public copies really don't contain any information except location and possible the name of arrested. They do not generally provide any detailed info. The information about the arrest would be available by the investigation officer or detective and normally only if you have true involvement will they give you any real details.

I second the idea to CALL.

    JoCo non-911 dispatch # 989-5000.
They can usually give you the scoop or transfer you the the Right person.

    Arrest

If this is the arrest that took place on Beaver Ridge Way, there is a small story about it at www.1270.wmps.com
