OK, let me put this as nice as I can. I do NOT condone killing the kid whatsoever. But I do understand the anger that drove the person that did kill him. But shooting the kid? Come on. Just another sad story all the way around. Kids egged the back of my house a couple of years ago. If I had caught them their parents probably would have let them slide anyways. COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Columbus teenager who was throwing eggs at cars as part of a late-night prank was fatally shot, police said Sunday. Police said 16-year-old Garrett Burton was with at least one other teenage boy Saturday in the backyard of a home when someone shot him in the head just before 3 a.m. Police have no suspects. The band at Westland High School, where Burton was a student, played the school's alma mater in memory of him at Saturday night's football game. Another Columbus teen was killed in an egging incident in December 2006. Fourteen-year-old Danny Crawford was shot after a group of boys he was with threw an egg at a car. No one has been charged in that case.
3am ----16 year old should be in the house. Wonder what his parents were doing?? I don't OK him being shot, the shooter should be in trouble. Not enough parents are taking responsibilty with their children!!!
I'm with you two. 3am, come on. I can't see shooting them, but I too feel the need for some kind of responsibility to be taken by the parents. Maybe I am ugly for saying, but maybe this will send a little message to the guys friends and others to leave other people's stuff alone. I wish I could have caught the kids that did mine about a year ago at 2 in the am. The last thing you want to open the door to is a cop saying your vehicle has been egged while you sleep peacefully in your bed. :boxing:
come on.....who has not snuck out at night and done some crazy teenage thing?? raising my hand! egging.....who hasnt egged something? shooting a kid for something they have probably done themselves!
I find it sad that a 16 years of age, which is old enough to hold a Ohio drivers license, boys have nothing better to do with their time than throw eggs at vehicles. This boy should not have been out at 3am, where were his parents? He obviously wasn't taught to respect other people's property. Another kid was shot in 06 for the same thing? Maybe every couple of years kids in Columbus need a reminder. The article said he was in "the backyard of a home" Whose home? Could there be a little more to this story than what's been reported? An extreme way to stop someone from throwing eggs.
A night of egg-throwing didn’t go over easy for two Ohio teens. The two youths were hanging out with a few dozen eggs, in the backyard of a stranger, who was asleep in bed at 3am. The boys tossed eggs at passing cars, one of their hits caused a driver to pull over and circle around behind the two boys on foot. In an overly eggressive manner, he waited until he saw the whites of one of the boys eyes, before shooting him in the head, eggcecution-style. Police do not have an eggsact description of the shooter, and are scrambling for tips to lead them to an arrest. The friend, who was with the deceased teen at the time of the shooting stated that wasn't eggsactly how they planned for their night to end. While some citizens feel that this was a hard-boiled way to deal with teen vandalism, others are all broken up for the families loss.
Ha! You crack me up. You and your Southern Fried Humor..... it'll teach that boy not to play chicken.
