I realize we all have our things we enjoy doing that make absolutely no sense to anyone else (ask your spouse) but this is incredible! Makes me drool, shake my head and wish I was two feet tall all at one time. http://www.cynical-c.com/?p=6257#comments
Although this man was extremely dedicated to his project, he was not obsessed. According to the DSM-IV-TR, obsessions are persisitant ideas, thoughts, impulses, or images that are experienced as intusive and inappropriate and that cause marked anxiety or distress. This man did not appear very anxious or distressed. In fact, he seemed to be quite relaxed and content with his accomplishment. Passionate? Definitely. Eccentric? Probably. Obsessed, mad, crazy, mentally ill? None of the above. I agree he could have used his incredible talents to do something more useful, and it is a little odd to commit so much time to one project. However, he was doing something that made him happy. And that hobby is certainly no worse than sitting in front of the boob tube every evening for 12 years. At least he was exercising his brain. Snuff
