Anyone made an "old timey" orangeade like yo used to find in the old drug stores?

I am looking for the recipe and the internet hasn't been much help :(

I may be too young to remember that kind of drink, but is it the one that taste like the combination of lemonade and orange soda? My son like to create a drink like that everytime we're at McDonalds. LOL.

There is a drink out there like what you are talking about. The one I am looking for is made very similar to lemonade-----just made with oranges instead. You can often find these "orangeades" at Andy's Cheeseburger rest.

Now I know what it is. I just researched in Wikipedia for orangeade. It says that you can find a recipe for home made Orangeade appears in editions of Fanni Farmer's cookbook.

Wanna drink it now? Minute Maid currently markets a brand of non-carbonated beverage labeled Orangeade.

    Yummy Orangeade

1 cup lemon juice (usually takes 6 lemons for me to get this much)
6 cups of orange juice (usually takes me 12 oranges)
    3/4 cup of sugar
    2 cups of ice cubes

Combine lemon juice and sugar, stir till sugar is dissolved. Add orange juice and ice stir add. Enjoy!!

I don't want to come accross as "picky"

I am looking for the recipe:

How many oranges that are manually squeezed over a 16 oz cup of ice,
and the measuremants of sugar water that is poored into the cup afterwards.

I used to make them at a deli where I worked in college.
I squeezed 1 orange (cut in half, of course) over a cup of crushed ice and put the sugar water mixture over that and stirred, and of course added a cherry on top. I think the sugar mixture we used was about 1 and 1/2 cup sugar per gallon of water... but I wouldn't swear on that part. I know I put 2 halves into the squeezer machine thingie per cup (16 oz. cup) of orangeade.

When you are done, I'll take one with a shot of vodka. Thanks! I live in the McGees area. I should be home today so you can bring it by.

I make my own version by hand squeezing 2 oranges, adding a few cubes of ice, about 4 packets of Equal, and finishing off with water. I make it in a 16 ounce glass so I don't measure the water, I just top off the glass!

Elliotts Pharmacy in Fuquay still has a soda fountain . Call them and find out how they make it.
