THIS IS NO HOAX. I TRIED IT AND IT BROUGHT UP MY ADDRESS AND MAPPED TO MY HOUSE!!!

Google has implemented a new feature which enables you to type a
telephone number into the search bar, hit enter, and you will be given
the person's name and address. If you then hit MapQuest, you will get a
    map to the person's house.

Everyone should be aware of this! It's a nationwide reverse telephone
book. If a child gives out his/her phone number, someone can now look it
up to find out where he/she lives. The safety issues are obvious, and
alarming. Note that you can have your phone number removed or blocked. I tried my
number, and it did come up, I clicked map and Mapquest gave directions
directly to the house. Quite scary. Please look up your own number. In order to

test whether your phone number is mapped, go to: www.google.com Type your

phone number in the search bar (i.e. 555-555-1212) and hit enter.

If you want to B L O C K Google from divulging your private information, simply

click on your telephone number and then click on the Removal Form. Removal

takes 48 hours. Please share this information with friends and family.

    Me too.

I tried a friend's number, and got name, address, & accurate map.

Tried my church phone number and got about a dozen hits - mostly in "church finder" sites - that's a good thing. :-D

I also want to add, becareful when you give out your phone number/address ANYWHERE.
I have a friend who was at a mechanic's shop and the guy asked for her phone number to put in the database. She gave it to him not really thinking about it. Later on that day, she got several phone calls from a guy who was sitting in the WAITING ROOM and overheard. She ended up changing her cell phone number after that and stayed at her parent's house for a week (thanks Google). I always write down my info and hand it to them. Once they are finished, I ask for the paper back. You never know.

    Just be careful!!

It's no different than someone looking you up in the phone book...and then going to Mapquest or Google maps and mapping your address. It just gives you a link instead.
