But sometimes the home page is closed for maintenance of this and other HR apps, so please tread carefully, as that may be the case at some point.

Musings of the Minister
Getting Up Close”
Some years ago I went with a senior citizens group to an Ice Show. I could not choose my own seat and had to sit up front with the group. I could see all the bruises on the skaters’ legs, the wisps of hair peeking from underneath their head dresses. I could see the scrapes and cuts they had gotten while practicing and working out. I could see the frowns and looks of wonder on their faces—even fear that a turn of their foot or movement would not go as they had planned. I thought it was an unpleasant sight! Those sitting further back were spared from all the details, and they could concentrate on the beauty of the costumes and the skating expertise.
Getting up close is not always a good thing. Some have learned this already. It explains their distance from and lack of involvement in some things you and I think are very important. We fear getting up close to other people. We don’t want to see all their flaws, their bruises and their lacks, nor do we want them to see ours. Instead of having close friends we wind up with a lot of acquaintances—people we know and are known by, but we can’t call them friends because of the distance we keep between us and them.
I think the Church looks differently to one who is involved in her work than it does to one who merely looks on from the outside, or attends worship occasionally. When you get involved in a committee or have some area of responsibility in the church you find that you encounter some of the same problems that exists in the business world. Many people are shocked by that; yet the Church is people...with all their faults and personality quirks. This causes some to become disillusioned, drop out, or have little or nothing to do with it. Some others realize that the Church is not perfect because we who are the Church are not perfect and they can embrace and live with that fact, doing all the good they can.
Sometimes we get up close to ministers and become aware that this “called of God and ordained by the Church person” is a real, live human being like ourselves. We discover that this person has likes and dislikes, hopes and desires, feelings and failure just as we do. For some this realistic view is more than they can bear and so they distance themselves from the minister and keep this person for Sunday only contact.
Occasionally we get up close to certain situations in life and find that in doing so we lose our neutrality. We find that we really do care what happens. It may be choosing a side or finding that something is required of us because we have gotten involved. There is a danger in this, however, for we may tend to lose our perspective and think that this situation is all there is.
Sometimes, like my being up front at the Ice Show, we’re brought up close for a time. We come close to our acquaintances and friends and find that we are privileged to share in another’s life for good or for ill. The flaws and lacks are there, but so also is beauty and warmth and goodness. Without taking the risk of a close-up look you will never know the joys of having a good friend; one who can love you inspite of all you are.
We get up close to the Church and learn to our surprise that it really is alive! That it does do something worthwhile in this world; it is more than just a building and an odd assortment of people. It is the body of Jesus Christ and a powerful force for good in this world.
You get up close to a minister and find that in many ways they are like you, and yet you may find an unexpected strength of character and integrity. You become aware of the activity of God in that life.
We get close to situations and find that even though something is required of us, the giving can be pleasant. It can be the making of our life and character.
The Christian life, seen from the inside, is wonderful. Some believe that to live as a Christ surely must be a dreary life, and try to hold Christ off at a distance. Yet if we welcome Him into our life we learn that there is no other way of living that is more exciting and more fulfilling. I imagine this is what Jesus meant when he said, “Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Don’t fear getting up close to people, to situations, to the Church. It can turn out to be the most
rewarding experience of your life! Judi

Here is the way it works…..You let me know what time you are coming and I tell Gail. She looks for you at the back door. (the side door on the side of the building where the loading dock is.) If she is not there to let you in, call XXXXXX whoever is ‘on call’ inside has the phone. They will let you in. anytime between 7-9:30 am is good. Staff will bring them all over together to the spay clinic whatever time they are ready. So you are to bring them to the adoption center, not the building on hwy 70 and not the clinic! I know it can get confusing! LOL

Remember to pick up their food bowls the night before.

(hmmm boring life??)
