If you have experience with pawning jewelry, what percentage of it's original value did you get from the pawn shop? Also, are there any pawn shops in the area that are good, bad etc.? Thanks!
Go to Arrow Pawn in Garner. It's next to Carolina BBQ. Ask for Glen, he's my husband, and he'll give you a good deal.
When I went to sell some jewelry (half-carat SI1 H) a pawn shop offered me 125.00. A jeweler offered 300.00. Check out Mom & Pop jewelers.
You need to shop around. One pawn shop might offer you 25% of the original cost, while the one down the street might off you 50%. It's helpful if you have the appraisal documents, although keep in mind that appraisals are often inflated and aren't a true representative of the 'value' (which is why a ring that you paid $1k to buy new at a regular jewelry store may appraise for $2k or more). The higher traffic the pawn shop, the better you'll do. And, if you're willing to accept merchandise credit or a trade, you'll do even better.
