    SMITHFIELD-- At its monthly meeting held Tuesday, December 13, the
    Johnston County Board of Education approved the following personnel
    recommendations made by Dr. Anthony Parker, Superintendent:

    Kim Wellons, currently at Micro-Pine Level Elementary School, will take
    the helm at Four Oaks Elementary School, succeeding Dr. Cathy Evans
    Truitt, who is retiring this school year.

    Angela Jacobs, currently serving as Assistant Principal at Micro-Pine
    Level, will succeed Mrs. Wellons as Principal.

    Brian Vetrano, currently Principal at South Smithfield Elementary
    School, has been named principal of the new West Cleveland area school,
    which will open in the Fall of 2006.

    Carla Taylor, currently the Assistant Principal at South Smithfield,
    will succeed Mr. Vetrano as Principal.

    Candy Williams, currently the principal of the South Campus Middle
    School, has been named principal of the new Dixon Road Elementary
    School, which will also open the Fall of 2006. Her successor has not
    been yet named.

    Kathleen McLamb, currently Principal of Corinth-Holders School, has
    been named Principal of Cleveland Middle School, replacing Kenneth
    Barnes who recently accepted a principalship in Durham.

    Paula Coates, currently an Assistant Principal at Clayton Middle
    School, will succeed Mrs. McLamb at Corinth-Holders.

    Also, Jerry Smith, Principal at Clayton High School, and Assistant
    Principal Eric Brown, each received contract extensions.

    Nathan Grant, serving as an Assistant Principal Intern at Riverwood
    Elementary, was named Assistant Principal.

    "I have every confidence that each of these fine professionals will
    stay the course, and continue to focus on student achievement and high
    expectations for every child," said Dr. Anthony Parker, Superintendent.
    "We congratulate each of them."
