OK. The one switch on this thing that the manual does not explain is the High-Low Range switch on the side. I know the dial on the front is the range for how long your pet will hear the *beep*. This darn dog. I guess he is some kind of masochist that likes pain. I took out the warning beep a while ago, and that seemed to work on containing him for a few months. Spring is here, cats/birds/squirrels... off he goes so I had to put him on a run.

What I want is to zap the hell out of him if he even thinks about leaving this yard. I already have TWO receivers on his collar. I googled and came up with nothing, anybody know if this switch on the side will do the trick?

When I got to the part about zapping the hell out of him I laughed so hard I almost tinkled! LOL

Do you have the little watch battery operated collar or the big industrial 9 volt model?

The best part is my almost 4YO is some sort of animal rights activist, who thinks she should sneak out and untie the dog.

Cleo, that sounds like our Sheltie. The underground fence didn't work for her, she figured out that if she ran really fast.....................the shock would only last a little while. There the dumb dog would be, running full tilt, yipping as she got shocked and but there was no turning back for her till she was through the shock field. I can't decide if she was the dumbest dog ever, or the smartest.:?

Ive got a big German shepherd and with the big lantern batter sized collar or maybe its the car battery size....anyway he doesnt get near it or even try. He hears that beep and bolts backwards. Wont risk it for anything.

He has two big ones on his collar (I guess they are the "9 volt" lol), and we have another small one. Shall I put that one on too?

OK. Nevermind. I see it on their site, there is a Super Receiver that takes a 9 volt battery. Mine only uses the disc (watch) battery. I thought I had the biggest, it sure cost alot and this one is cheaper?

Is this what you are talking about?

The thought has crossed my mind, Ken. Do you know much fun it is to traipse around this neighborhood with two girls in tow chasing this stupid dog down?

Thats the Beast. We had the smaller one on him and it never phased him one bit. Now it keeps our small terrior in but the German....he never noticed. So we had to get the Beast and it controls him just fine.

Yeah, I had no idea there was an even bigger one. I thought you were joking about the 9 volt. I think I will get two just in case. That dog will stay in this yard.

Our dog used to run right through the underground wireless fence, and I seriously contemplated thinning out the fur around her neck so that the zap was a little stronger. I never resorted to that, but would it make a difference?

On the old collars did you have the shock value at 5? We had to turn ours up to 5 on both of our dogs. It lays them out flat now. One's an america bulldog and the others a goldendoodle.

No, he is a boxer. Not much fur. He is also very smart. I actually switched it from beep/shock to just shock because that dog figured out how to run down the batteries. He knew by the beep when the strength was weaker, and would then plot his escape. So we started buying batteries every three weeks. In the meantime, maybe I could switch it up and put the beep back on and extend the warning zone? Keep him guessing?

we have the 9 volt battery one, and our dog will not go anywhere near the line....it buckles him....he is about 140 pounds too. He stands at the line (or about 2 feet shy of the beep line, and he howls like a wolf at us when we are leaving....LOL.....crazy dog.

Tassy, we have the 'zapper' right under his chin, and it puts him down, and he has a big ol head and lots of fur. That 9 volt lights him up. I bet the shaving of hair would help a bit. or tighten it up for a couple of days, once he gets shocked good fashion, they won't goback.

Hmmm. Yeah, I do see a button. Here is the receiver that he has - http://www.americas-pet-store.com/details/prodid/870.html. We actually put it (and another one) on a different collar and I just noticed the button and the plastic is scraped away beside it. It would appear he is rubbing against something and maybe reset the stimulation level? How do I know what level it is on? I hate testing this thing, youch!

I have a friend whose next door neighbor has one of the super shock collars on her dog and he's so afraid of the shock that everytime it beeps he does a backflip and pees all over himself!

You know by the number of blinks. We have a collar just like that but no remote. You press the little black buttom once and let go. If it blinks once then it's on one. To change it press the button once and then again within seconds after the first blink all the way up to five blinks. Ours has a little plastic piece over it so they can't rub it on somthing.

    We have this one

and this one both our deluxe models.
