Does anyone know a good place to buy established, i.e. 8-10ft +, crepe myrtles for a good price? I want to put 6 in my back yard this spring or in the fall. Tried Broadwells a couple weeks ago. Went down there and the lady said we had to call to order that many. Well the number we call has a message that says no one answers or checks messages for that number-it is only for directions and hours. I guess they are just so busy now you have to know one of the guy's nextel or cell #s. We used Just Trees on Hwy 50 to put 3 trees in the front yard last spring and they are wonderful. But I don't have the cash for 6 crepes @ $375 a piece right now. I want good strong trees to get through any water restrictions and well, just instant gratification more than anything:lol: Root ball size isn't an issue as DH manages an equipment rental branch. Any suggestions ya'll can think of? Or if anyone knows who I can get in touch with at Broadwells and a # that would be great!
Broadwell's! They have awesome trees at great prices! They are off Old Stage Rd. toward Benson. They don't have prices on any of their trees-but you can just ask and they'll let you know.
You can go to Broadwells and order the trees. We've ordered several larger trees two different times and they had the trees ready to pick up within a few days. The cost savings is worth the wait. (We got 8-10 ft hollies for $60 each) Talk with one of the guys there. You'll probably have a better chance of finding someone to help you if you go on a week day. Don't bother trying to call. You will never reach an actual person and they don't return calls.
Thanks ncmom. It sounds like I might have better luck on a weekday which makes sense. We showed up on a Saturday= mayhem. When we bought 2 crepes there a few years back, I got them for $35 each and even if they've gone up, you're right about the price! I'm glad you can still order though. I was afraid they'd stopped ordering for non-commercial customers.
