Does anyone know anything about this? My son brought home a paper from school yesterday. It is a fundraiser. Did they have one last year? Is this an ok dance to take 5th or 6th graders? Just curious. Thanks
we're in cleveland pop warner, but this is our first year. we've asked our team mom some of these questions....yes they had it last year. yes it is a fundraiser. free to get into, but like a dollar do do stuff (games, i guess). yes the dance is ok for 5th and 6th graders, although you'll probably see some younger kids there too. and it'll be at west johnston high school. following the day's games. it's homecoming as all but one of the clevleand pop warner teams are playing at home tomorrow. there's even a parents vs coaches flag game in the afternoon... www.clevelandwildcats.com woops the dance is at old cleveland school. the other stuff is at west. from the website: This Saturday, October 27th, is going to be a fun day for the Cleveland Pop Warner families! First up, we have 6 of 7 teams playing at our home field. We're setting up all sorts of activities and we plan to make it a rockin' day from start to finish! Activities include: Face painting Bake sale Haunted House Quarterback Challenge Krispy Kreme donut sale Moonwalk Photos with the Wildcat mascot Everything but the bake sale and Krispy Kreme sale will use tickets, which will be available at a table near the entrance. Tickets are $1 each or a dozen (12) for $10. Cash will not be accepted at ticketed activities. Also, all t-shirts (including last year's black ones) will be brought out and marked down for the day. After the last game of the day, we will be having a Parents vs. Coaches flag football game - anyone interested in playing should see their child's coach. The Halloween Dance will be held from 7pm to 11pm at the Old Cleveland School gym (the big building in front of where we held registration). Come in costume - best costume wins a cash prize! Admission to the dance is $3 per person. Drinks and snacks will be sold, as well as glowsticks.
Pop Warner is a fantastic program - we played for several years. A shame we will miss this but we have other plans.
I didn't know there is Pop Warner in Cleveland. My son is currently with the Clayton Civitian team and he's not happy there. Maybe I'll sign him up with the Wildcats for next year. Are they good? How are coaches treating their players? How come Clayton didn't play with Cleveland? Just wondering..
clayton didn't play cleveland cuz they don't cross over (ie pop warner doesn't play against civitan teams, only other pop warner teams) i don't believe...and clayton doesn't have a pop warner team. it's out first year. it the first year they've had two teams in our division. our coach is a new coach. but they all take it seriously for sure. we have 6 total coaches on our team. each one has a kid on the team, too. they've been tough but fair and we've seen our little boy develop skills, toughness, character, team spirit, and strength (both mental and physical). we've been very happy with the whole experience...
I'd love to know the ages of the kids that are going to be at the dance. I don't want my daughter going if it's going to be older kids there as well. So, does anyone know the ages/grades invited to the Halloween Dance? My daughter's in 5th and brought this home just today. Any 6th or 7th graders going as well? Take care, Stephanie--mom to 7
cleveland pop warner only goes as high as peewee division. that's 12 years old, tops. there aren't any midget division teams that i'm aware of, which would be up to 15....
