I got this in amn email and thought I'd pass this along. I don't know how to verify the validity through Snopes or anywhere else and I am limited to where I can go on my work computer. But I figured those 4042ers that are EXTREMELY resourceful, may can check it out. But it's better to be safe than sorry and even if this is not so, it can serve as a reminder to be even more viligant in regards purchases and shopping ideas. *************** I wanted to give everyone a heads up that if you tend to give gift cards around the holidays, you need to be careful that the cards will not be honored after the holidays. Stores that are planning to close after Christmas are still selling the cards through the holidays even though the cards will be worthless January 1. There is no law preventing them from doing this. On the contrary, it is referred to as 'Bankruptcy Planning). Below is a partial list of stores that you need to be cautious about. http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/storeclosings.asp Here you go...it basically says, some are true, some are false/inaccurrate. Some are outdated
I got this same email the other day. I knew some of them at least were true, and I, like you, figured it's better to be safe than sorry. And I know with the economy the way it is right now, if I had any gift cards, I'd be spending them right now, cause I don't have any other money to spend anyway!!
Bankruptcy planning has its limits, and this sound like it might cross over the line to "bankruptcy crimes."
