Progress Energy Hopes to Expand Nuclear Plant

    There was a news story just about a week ago that they might have to shut down a reactor because the lake they get water to cool with is so low. Even if we get some good rains, it seems growth will cause a long-term water issue in the Triangle. How will they cool those new towers?

    I know a guy who is an Engineer out there, haven't seen him in over a month, but I will try to remember to ask him.

    My opinion is that the original reactors were planned with plenty of water, these light water reactors are pretty much obsolete (remember it has been a long time since we have built any in this country). The new reactors probably will not be nearly as dependent on water as these.
