Rocky Mount, N.C. — Officers have apprehended a suspect in a high-speed chase from Rocky Mount to Wake County on U.S. Highway 64 West late Fridy afternoon, according to the state Highway Patrol.
The chase began when Rocky Mount police officers spotted a vehicle with Virginia license plates that had been reported stolen, a Highway Patrol spokeswoman said.
The driver fled onto U.S. 64 West, and state troopers joined the chase at the county line. The chase continued into Wake County and then onto Rolesville Road.
The driver jumped out of the car at Rolesville and Old Milburnie roads and tried to flee. Officers, however, caught the suspect.
Shots were reported fired during the chase, but Highway Patrol officials could not say who had fired them.
