I've heard that the cut-off date for kids was changed this year, does anyone know if that is true. If so, what is the new date? I checked the JCS website and didn't find anything. Also, can some of you tell me your thoughts, good and bad, on Dixon Rd Elementary? That is the district we are in, but honestly, I'm not impressed with the public school system as a whole. I know there are good teachers and good schools, but at the same time there are bad. I've read so much about EOG testing, I think it is useless and such a waste of time, but that's another thread. I know Dixon is only a year old (I think) and just wanted to see what the thoughts are on it so far. Mine will start next year (2008) and I'm checking all of the options. Thanks so much!
I teach there and have a child that goes there. If you have specific questions, please feel free to PM me. One thing I can tell you is that we have small class sizes so far (<20) which is great.
Two of my grandkids go there - just finished 2nd and 4th grade - and have been very pleased with the teachers, staff, etc and trust me, i am not an easy Nana to please:-D
The age doesnt change for a year or two, to give everyone warning. At least that is what I read a few months back.
ljk is correct, The cut off age date was changed this year but (If I remember correctly) does not go into effect till 2009-10. DS begins K this fall & he has one of the late B-Days. It will keep our cousin out of public school another year when the law kicks in; her M&D were not too happy about the extra year of pre-K ($$$).
I have two kids that go there....both going into 5th. They were at McGee's prior, from Kindergarten through 3rd, then were moved....as that's where we are districted. The transition was 'less than smooth', but we survived. And just for the record, the Johnston County Schools webpage....pretty much useless, IMO. If you want, you can PM me, with specific questions, if you have any.
Thank you everyone for your responses. I do have specific questions and will be PM'ing a couple of you that offered to answer. Thank you again!
