I am looking to plan a mountain trip for our family in January. I would like to take them tubing/skiing and stay in a cabin not to far from the resort. Can anyone please recommend the best place for tubing and any cabins rentals you have experienced? Thank you!
Wintergreen We have gone to Wintergreen in VA for several years and enjoyed it. Tickets can be purchased online to ensure that you get the date/time you want. We usually picked 2 runs with a break in between. http://www.wintergreenresort.com/Tubing/ We stayed at a hotel about 20 miles away in Waynesboro, so I don't have any experience in local cabins.
Hawks Nest has the best tubing trails in NC IMHO. Near Boone. Just do a search and you'll find their web site. One word of advice, book a reservation for a tubing session. It's quite popular and sessions sell out.
