Restaurant . com is having a special 90% off right now. Code to use is JOY.
Definitely worth it if you are patient. The site is extremely slow right now. I am not sure how long this will be going on, but just got my certificates a few minutes ago.

Just relaying my own personal experience with them...

I've bought several certificates and have yet to be able to use any of them.

The first one I bought (actually bought for three different restaurants on the first try, since they had a seemingly really good deal), I headed for one of the restaurants that evening and it was closed down (boarded up, out of business).

I contacted Restaurant.com and they allowed me to exchange it for a different certificate.

Using that certificate, I went to the restaurant (which was near the RBC Center) but was told that they did not honour the certificates during evenings when RBC Center events were being held (that night it was a Hurricanes game which was in progress when we were there)

Again, I contacted Restaurant.com and they again allowed me to exchange it for a different certificate.

The next restaurant told me they did not accept the certificate on weekends.

All in all, I have pretty much given up on trying to redeem the certificates and have marked them up as a loss. I'm tired of contacting them only to have them exchange one bad certificate for another bad certificate.

The only good thing I can say about them (in my opinion) is that they have really good customer service. Each time I contacted them to complain, there was no argument, they simply apologized and gave me another certificate.

Once again, this is my personal experience only. Other people must be having better luck with them as they are still in business and not in jail.

Definitely good to know. I haven't used them before, but I am a sucker for a deal. At least I only paid $2 for $40 worth of coupons.

I have used at least 15 coupons from there with good results each time. :)

I've been buying them for years, I can't even count how many I have used. The only issues I ever had were at a restaurant in Smithfield that was called Ribeye Joes, or something like that. We walked in, it was a dump, and walked right back out. I think I handed the certificates to someone else on their way in even. I didn't think to call and complain.

Then Kaze right here in Clayton claimed that they were a scam and would not take them. I think when Kaze entered into the contract with Restaurant.com they didn't fully understand that its more of a marketing ploy and that they make no money on them, so Kaze felt they were scammed into the promotion. Restaurant.com was more than happy to replace them with another certificate of my choice.

We've used several of them at the Cleveland Drafthouse with no issues, Characters Quarters with no issues. I always pay attention to the rules & restrictions for when they are good for. I know there are many others, but I can't think of them at the moment.

I just looked at the Backyard Bistro one online, and I'd have raised hell there, it does not say they won't take it during events at the RBC center. By the time I was done ripping someone, they would have taken it.

Their customer service is great, I've even been notified by them of certificates that I've bought that they are going to replace because mine hadn't been used and a restaurant may have closed or ended their contract.

As do I. Most are for dinner only, some are good for both lunch and dinner. Most will say something to the effect that they're not accepted during "special events" (such as Valentine's Day).

Either that or been escorted out by a uniformed peace officer. :)

I admit their CS is one of the best I've seen. However, after dealing with them for several months, and yet to actually be able to use a certificate, I have given up.

I'm glad to hear that y'all have had better luck, though.

Clif...email Joe @ Backyard Bistro. He will make it right. We are regulars there and have had 1 issue over the whole time we have been going. I emailed Joe and he responded almost immediately and fixed it! GREAT service from him. He is Jody (Pharmacist @ Medicap 210's hubby)...Lance @ 4042 is also a partner with Joe.

Probably, but it's too late. I don't hold anything against Backyard Bistro. They have a right to their policy. I fault Restaurant.com for not alerting me to that policy, as well as other issues previously cited. They did do good by allowing me to exchange the certificate, but after several exchanges I just gave up. To me (in my opinion) they simply don't have enough knowledge or control.

I've got a $100 coupon from Restaurant.com and would like to use it at Klara's in Cary, could someone please tell how I go about using it once I get to the restaurant? Thanks!

It sounds like you've got a generic restaurant.com certificate. You'll need to use that to purchase restaurant-specific certificate(s), and then use those at the restaurants.

I think Klara's (love that place btw) only has $25 certificates that you can use for a minimum purchase of $45 (not including alcohol). Seems to me you can only use one certificate at the same restaurant per month, so you'll have another $75 in certificates to buy (you can buy multiple certificates for the same restaurant).

Show it to your server before you order. She might want to take it then or when you pay (I think they take it when you pay, IIRC).

You might want to show it before you're seated. I've learned from personal experience.

Thanks! What is the "It" I'm supposed to show though ;)? All I've got is the redeem code, would that be sufficient?

It should be a printed certificate (coupon) that you got after checking out at Restaurant.com.

After putting in my code all I just get the following message:

Congratulations! You are now ready to use your Restaurant.com Gift Certificate. You currently have a credit of $100.00 to use.

Simply search for the restaurant or online partner of your choice and you can either 1) redeem all of your credit now or 2) apply a portion of your credit and come back to this site at any time to use your remaining credit. It's that easy!

NOTE: Please be sure to keep your gift certificate code in a safe place as you will need it to redeem any remaining credit balance.

There's seems to be no option where I can print out the certificate. Maybe I'll give them a call. Thanks for your efforts!

That means that you have $100 to spend on gift certificates from restaurant.com. You have to find the specific restaurants you are interested in buying gift certs. from and purchase them through restaurant.com. Once purchased you will be able to print the actual certificates that you will need to take to the restaurant. They all have their own fine print and specifications, be sure you read them so there are no surprises when you get there.

Yesterday I got a discount code (SWEETIE) that was $25 gift certs. for $2.

You need to select a restaurant (and a deal).

I'm sorry if I'm misunderstanding, but it seems that you don't quite know how Restaurant.com works.

What you do at Restaurant.com is buy "Gift Certificates". The price you pay for a gift certificate will (hopefully) always be less than the value of the gift certificate itself (depending on what deals are going on, there could be a huge difference).

For example, I'm looking at Restaurant.com right now and see that I can buy a gift certificate from Backyard Bistro. There are actually for denominations ($25, $50, $75 and $100). I choose the $50 gift certificate that I can purchase for $25. Effectively half price.

I select the option button next to $50 (and also make sure I read the disclaimer which says, in part, that the gift certificate can only be used for dinner and that the minimum purchase must be $100. There's more, make sure you read it for each restaurant and deal you choose. The text may change when you select different certificate values.) then I click "Add to cart".

Once I'm done adding all the gift certificates to the cart, I can check out. Once I pay, I'll be able to print out all the certificates. If, for some reason, my printer dies in the middle of a print, I will be able to reprint.
