I am looking for a new lawn mower. I am looking at getting a regular lawn tractor type mower. My Craftsman mower has just quit and I had a Murray before the Craftsman. Does anyone have any feedback on the lower end John Deere mower of the the Cub Cadet. I am looking at the John Deere LA115 and the Cub Cadet LTX 1042. They are very close in price and both are automatic transmission, but I was wondering if anyone here had either mower and if they liked it.
We are on our second cub cadet riding mower (both are LTX1042 models), this new one has cruise control. The first one lasted 16-17 years and we finally traded it in on a new one. The motor still ran fine, but other things were starting to go, so we traded it in. We have always cut an acre or more each time (year round), so we can't complain after 16-17 years of service. Never needed a thing outside of regular oil changes, belts now and then, new blades. Try Surf and Turf in Selma. The last one we got was 0% financing for a year, I think. Pete Rowe is the owner and his daughter runs the place. Good people. They also work on them, which is nice!! Good luck!
I bought a riding mower several years ago--a Yard Machine--from Lowes and its still going. I moved and didn't need it any more so I loaned it (probably permanently) to a relative of mine and its still going after 7 seasons.
I've got the JD LA120 and have been very happy with it for the last three years. No cheaper to buy a JD from Lowes than it is directly from JD over off of 401 in Fuquay. The old saying goes, you get what you pay for. Over the years I've found it very appropriate when looking at riding tractors.
I purchased a Murray from Lowes about 14 years ago and it is still running strong. My personal belief is if you take care of the mower it will last a long time so if you plan to take care of it, get what you want. Why would you want cruise control on a mower?
some of those mowers are built by same company but with their own names and a few minor twitches here and there... at least for the low-mid range mowers.. prior to jd showing up at lowes and hd I think there was only 2 companys making the mowers but three different brands.. I agree take care of your stuff the longer it'll last... Go automatic for comfort purposes... If you want to spend real money then head to Johne deere dealer or other farm tractor dealer and you will get a stout Garden tractor, big difference...
I am a wife cutting the grass...what do ya want?? Didn't say we wanted it...it came on it. I do use it sometimes on the long stretches. BTW, the new mower we bought 16-17 years later cost the same as the original one. Not sure if we got a deal or we overpaid for the first one??!! Either way, I don't plan to buy another one for at least a decade. Not too bad when you break down yearly cost.
Your not doing a good job as a wife cutting grass.... mine needs mowed,, can you get it tomm???? That would be great... Thanks :cheers:
http://www.tractorforum.com/ http://www.mytractorforum.com Both these web site are very good info. go to the lawn tractor section of each, and read or ask questions.
Those are two of my favorite sites. Even though i bought my lawn tractor 6 years agao, i still go there to look around. very good info, on a lot of things. I have a mid level craftsman i bought in FV 6 years ago. Take care of the engine /belts and blades and it will last. MTD is the company that makes many different brands. Cub Cadet / Yard man /Bolens / Trot Bilt http://www.mtdproducts.com/corporate/index.jsp
Thanks for the websites. I also found out that the TORO were made by MTD and Craftsman is made by Husquavarna. I think I will still end up either getting the Cub Cadet or John Deere. Both mowers that I am looking at is one of the cheaper ones, but I am leaning toward the John Deere for now.
I will go over to Surf and Turf tomorrow and check out what he has on sale. Comparing the Cub Cadet and John Deere they are equal really.
