Riverwood Takes Mathcounts Championship Again This Year

    Riverwood Middle School earned the MATHCOUNTS championship for the second year in a row, competing among 112 middle school students representing the twelve middle schools in Johnston County in the annual competition. Riverwood will now represent the district at the regional MATHCOUNTS Competition in Raleigh on Saturday, February 23.

    The students not only compete as a team, but also as individuals in working out math problems in an allotted amount of time.

    The following students won awards for their hard work:

    Overall Individual Student Winners:
    1st Place: Andrew Latham from Riverwood Middle
    2nd Place: Mark German from Riverwood Middle
    3rd Place: Fiona Kirk from Cleveland Middle
    4th Place: Kyle Anderson from McGee's Crossroads Middle

    The following students competed against the top 26 individual students to answer the most problems during our Count Down Round (in which there were several ties):

    2nd Place: Kyle Anderson from McGee's Crossroads Middle
    Valerie Davis from Smithfield Middle
    Carmen Honeycutt from McGee's Crossroads Middle
