The total average for the Johnston County Schools has increased a total of 93 points since 1999. Participation rates have edged up slightly from 46.2% in 2004 to 46.5% in 2005.

"We have met our goal of surpassing the national average, but our work is not done. As our students continue their participation in and demonstration of their capabilities in academically rigorous courses, we will continue to provide the quality educational services that will result in sustained excellence," said Dr. Anthony Parker, Superintendent. "I am extremely proud of the students, teachers, and parents and communities who have committed themselves to supporting excellence in our schools. Our Board of Education has led the effort by supporting and approving policies that allow us to provide world-class instruction and the resources we need to get it done."
